Love the pictures and the quality of the photography. I haven't been to the Adirondaks in years, but the photos pull me back to the beauty.

This book is wonderful. The pictures and narratives are both wonderful and the diversity is nice as well.

I have two copies of this book. One that Carl autographed for me and one I keep in my car along with a map of the Adirondacks.

This beautiful book is divided up into 4 sections. Lake Placid and the high peaks , Eastern Lakes,wilds and farmlands ,Central and southern Waterways and mountains and last the Boreal North. Set up in such a way that anyone can make a list of where they want to visit for a day trip or as long as one likes. I use yellow memo notes and stick them on the inside cover.

Whether you are a photographer , hiker , kayaker or just want to find a nice place to picnic for the day this book with it's beautiful photos will set you up for your trip long before you ever get there.

This was a gift to my husband who has hiked many of the high peaks. The pictures in this book were breathtaking.

I just love Carl Heilmann's photography. There was a PBS special a few years ago showing the great effort he makes to climb mountains with his equipment and wait for the right weather and light conditions to get his shot. All this meticulous work is visible in his Adirondacks book, which is big enough to see the photos well but small enough to put in a carryon bag and take along when you are visiting friends or relatives. I have bought about six copies of this book at various times to bring as hostess gifts to friends all over the country.

Excellent. I lived in the Adirondacks for many years and I think this is a wonderful book about a wonderful place!

Bought this for my dad on his 59th birthday while I was in Tupper Lake. I think he is really going to like it!
