Adjustable Clamp 9170 Pony Rapid Acting Miter Clamp

I purchased two Clamps and so far have used them to make 14 drawers for workshop storage and 5 picture frames. The vice clamps are deep for holding the material securely and the quick release feature in quite handy.

I am using these clamps to help glue and staple the 1 x 6 rabbited hemlock trim around the windows in the unfinished portion of my home. I innitially worked with bar clamps combined with blocks to square the corners and that required at least 3 clamps per corner. These clamps are much easier to use and securly hold the trim at right angles. They are also nicely finished, easy to adjust and built heafty enough to frame larger than picture frame material. The price at Amazon was a bargain.

I have used several miter clamps, and I found this one to be quite accurate and easy to set up. Also it seems to be rather durable. Many of the other clamps of this nature seem to easily break or the screw mechanism pulls out of square. I felt the price was very reasonable. It makes picture framing a snap. I have used these on a few large projects and have been very happy with their performance. Makes life a lot easier while waiting for glue to set up. Will probably order more if I take on more framing work.

The 'screw type' closing mechanism does not work well as the screw slips when you tighted the clamp. It does form a nice 90 degree angle if the clamp does not slip - I bought 2 clamps and only one 1 of the 4 screw tighteners actually works. I might be able to fix this by modifying the whole the screw tightener uses, but I shouldn't have to fix the poor design of this product. I will use another manufacturer next time.
