This review is from: Adjustable Keyboard Tray (Black) (30"W x 16.25"D)
This item was just what I needed for increased work area on my desk. I wanted one wide enough for the mouse, which this is, with room to spare. I also didn't want the tray to come out from under the desk so far that it was awkward to work while the tray was extended. With this model, the tray only extends the depth of the keyboard. Plus the height is adjustable. Good purchase!

Once installed the tray is very sturdy and works the way it should. Installation was a bit of a challenge but doable.

Keyboard tray dimensions do not accurately reflect its true size. Even after allowing for the outside dimensions of the tray and the bracket it is still smaller than advertised. I like the height adjustment feature but would have preferred the keyboard tray to be wide enough to accomodate my keyboard and mouse. Outside dimension stated to be 30"W but infact it was only 27.75"W thus making the inside tray dimension only 25"W. Since I do not use a standard keyboard, this did not allow a comfortable work surface for both keyboard and mouse.

The tray is nearly perfect for my needs: the built-in tray on my desk was too narrow to fit my wide ergonomic keyboard and have space left for a mouse. The tray itself is a textured piece of plastic that appears very durable and works well without a mousepad. The rails are solid, making the tray itself feel very secure.
Installation on an upright desk is a two person job, but if you can flip your desk it would be much easier. Be prepared to have a drill with a small bit for creating pilot holes. My only other quibble is that the locking mechanism to keep the tray firmly extended isn't terribly strong. These are ball bearings, rather than the wheel rollers you might have seen on other trays. Still, with adjustable height, plenty of width and being quite affordable relative to its competition, this is a good choice. |
