Product Description

John Lennon Variable Focus Eyeglasses allow you to adjust each lens so that you can have great vision for whatever you are doing. If you wear reading glasses and have different magnification needs for each eye or need to instantly change your prescription, Adlens' John LennonTM glasses are for you. Here's how they work. All you have to do is turn a little knob on the frame each lens. The variable focus lenses allow the user to manually adjust to his or her needs for clarity. Each variable focus lens comprises an elastic membrane held in a chamber between rigid front and back polycarbonate plates. When fluid is injected into the chamber the elastic membrane bows outwards or inwards to change the power of the lens. They are easily adjusted for a wide range of spherical powers from -4.5 to+3.5. - Every pair of glasses purchased from the John LennonTM Collection, Adlens donated a pair of glasses to someone in the developing world through Vision for a Nation®- "Adlens'® technology is such an interesting concept with such amazing potential that really captures the imagination. I am sure John would be proud to be associated with the glasses and the ethos behind them." -Yoko Ono

The good: Easy to setup, the frames look really cool, donating a pair of glasses to someone in need, that's awesome.

The bad: Overpriced, major glare from computer monitor, they are nothing like your prescription glasses, nothing. You will not get the same clarity like you would with your prescription glasses, if you veer your view towards the frame be it up, down, side, other than straight and in the middle of the lens, it will blur. To get a perfect view from these lenses, you can't just move your eyes like you would with prescription glasses, you have to move your head so your eyes are perfectly lined with the center of the lenses, yes, you will be moving your head a lot.

These glasses are not replacements for progressives or bifocals, as their advertising implies. You set the focus one time, pull out the focus tabs, and the focus is set permanently for one distance. Beyond that, even if you discount the fact that the glasses don't correct for astigmatism, they seem to be poor optically even for emergency use. I had to return them.

There are bubbles in the glass and does not meet with expectations. and you can forget about seeing clearly through them

I have worn the Hemi's for 18 months and I get by o.k. with them. I noticed all of the reviews posted here were made in the summer, now that it's getting cool outside, you will see the edges of each lens start to blurr, at the adjustment plug, and work it's way in until the entire lens is blurred out. I have had 4 pairs and they all have this problem. Temps under 68 will render these glasses un-wearable. Sorry to pass on the news, I wished they were all weather specs.
