My wife and I own a small ice cream and sandwich shop and have been looking for a replacement thermometer. We have used many different brands over the years and have been unhappy with most. We had one thermometer that was fast but was on it's last leg. We found it very frustrating that all the other thermometers in our kitchen were too slow and had too many buttons that you could accidentally press, i.e., centigrade/Faranheit, Hold, etc. I took a chance and ordered three of these based on reviews. I have to say that this is absolutely the best thermometer I have ever used. It is extremely fast (we were all amazed), uncomplicated (only an on button), easy to hold, easy to read, and has a thin tip that works well when probing thin meats. I will never buy another thermometer as long as these are available. I am so glad I found this thermometer. Life is better now!

Very fast and easy to use. Compares very favorably with those costing many times the price. I have tried several different thermometers and this wins hands down.

I bought two of these on the same day. One red for me and a black one for the hubby to use on the grill. Neither of them lasted nine months. The black one just died a month ago and was 10 degrees off at the end and the red one still takes a temp, but the LCD is messed up and hard to read. We were not hard on these things either. Never left in the grill or oven and never submerged in water.

I've been wanting one of these for a long time, I just took forever to get around to it. I am really glad I pulled the trigger. Its easy to use, accurate as far as I can tell and convieniently small and easy to clean and store.

Its nothing fancy, of course. There are remote ones and one that do everything from announce done-ness to sing Dixie, but for a simple thermometer- this is the ticket.

This thermometer just does its job the way it should. Convenient to read, long enough, very fast results -and I think accurate-, easy to clean

do not purchase. The product did not give accurate temperature results. Test it if you do buy it against a reliabble thermometer and see what it says when checkin the temp of boiling water. Mine said 159° F in boiling water.

Not sure how they're allowed to call this instant read--the package itself says five seconds, but I've watched the thing slowly tick up for 20 seconds or more before finally giving up and using my old probe thermometer. It also seems either very inaccurate or else too susceptible to ambient heat--either way we could not get an accurate read with it while grilling meats. I guess there is a reason the good ones are so expensive.

Seriously considering returning it. I won't be surprised if this item's review score continues to go down.

EVERYONE needs one of these, or one like it. I usually grill "by eye" but my wife is pregnant right now and I don't want to take a chance in under-cooking the meat. And I hate over-cooked meat.

I used it to grill pork chops last weekend. It was nice and responded quickly. Usually the temperature would stabilize in 2.3 seconds. Its has a very skinny tip so it doesn't leave gaping holes in the meat. Its not a huge thermometer, but it was easy enough to slide a pork chop over near the edge and check the temp without burning my hand.

Made it easy to pull off the chops as soon as they hit temperature (which keeps them juicy and delicious!)

Cleanup was easy... a little dish-soap on the scrub brush to clean the tip. I threw away the plastic end-cap... too much chance of building up bacteria IMO.

I'd buy it again.

UPDATE 8may2013
I've been using this thermometer for about 3 years now. Its still working.

Occasionally it acts weird... I think the batteries are getting loose? If I take the battery cover off and "wiggle" the batteries it starts working again. Maybe the batteries are almost dead and I need to replace them.

I see there are a lot of bad reviews. But mine is working just fine. Makes me wonder if some people are getting water in the electronics? I'm always careful to only wash the metal tip.
