Cites cases, statutes, and explains basic admiralty law very well, so that the admiralty virgin will have no problem figuring out why there is no jury, how a ship can be arrested, and what the heck general average is all about.

Schoenbaum's Hornbook on Admiralty is indispensable from the point of view of this maritime practitioner. It is much better than the other Hornbook available - and so far beyond other guides that it's not even worth looking at anything else. If you need a sound reference on such an esoteric subject, this is the one to get.

If you are doing any work in Admiralty and need an up to date authoritative source, this is it. Hell, even teh Supreme Court will sometimes cite this book for propositions of Admiralty and Maritime Law.
