3.0 out of 5 stars More info than needed
Covered much more than was actually on the test I took. My test only had 4 sections: reading comprehension, math, grammar, and vocabulary. I guess it was worth looking at the guide to get an idea of what kind of questions to expect, but I would check one out from a library before buying it. It was $35 for a thin paperback, spiral bound book.

4.0 out of 5 stars HESI A2 Study Guide, January 30, 2006
By
This review is from: Admission Assessment Study Guide, 1e (Spiral-bound)
I thought this study guide was very comprehensive and helped to get the major points across for each subject. The HESI I took had all 7 sections on it: anatomy & physiology, biology, chemistry, grammar, vocabulary, math, and reading comprehension. I only studied from this study guide and I got a B on the test so as far as I'm concerned it was great!

5.0 out of 5 stars covers it all, August 15, 2007

I had to take all sections of the HESI. The study guide was all I studied and I got a 91. If you know the material in the guide, you will do well.

4.0 out of 5 stars A valuable resource, November 9, 2007

This book breaks down examples for what to expect on the test for each section. The most important factor in me purchasing this book is that it is the very same book advertised for sale on the Hesi website, the distributor of the exam. I have peace of mind since I know what to expect. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that it somewhat skimps out on the practice questions, which wasn't much of a problem for me so much, but one that would like alot of problems couldn't really get that from this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Admission Assessment Great Review Book!, October 1, 2011

After weeks of searching for a good review book and reading reviews I purchase this book. I would have to say it was one of my best decisions! I scored a 91% on my first time and the only thing I used was this study guide! I highly recommend it. The practice questions in each section helped out tremendously and the words used in the vocabulary/grammar section were the words that were EXACTLY on the test and it is easy to follow.

I'd read other positive reviews, and I agree. It definitely helped me make a great score on my HESI. You won't regret it. It's short and to-the-point. There are NOT errors, as you often find in this type of book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Math Section A Scheme=Not passing!, May 7, 2010

Hi there.
The book you are looking at right now may not be the best decision if you want to pass the HESI; you want a book that is more intense in the math.
The math material provided in the book was the basics of the basics. The math provided in this study guide is about adding and subtracting decimals, whole numbers, and fractions. Multiplication and division of decimals, whole numbers, and fractions. As well as some ratios. The math is not intense. There is more to the Hesi exam such as conversion of weights and millage. {my test was mainly about ratios and conversions)
The Book does a great overview of reading comprehension and the sciences.
I scored high on the english but not as high on the math. Leading me to retake it.
If you want to buy a book, you want to buy one that is going to help you in all subjects.
Specifically the math.
The math portion on the Hesi exam is not extremley challenging but it requires you know basics. I dont know how to convert wieght and distance. So it was not help for me. If you are good in math, then you are straight.

Good luck, Hope it helped.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really helpful, May 30, 2008
This review is from: Admission Assessment Study Guide, 1e (Spiral-bound)
This study guide was really helpful. The math portion is exactly like the test. If you know the math from the book you will have no problem on the test. The Reading, grammar and vocabulary from the study guide is just like on the test. For the Biology, A&P, and Chemistry I used this book as well as my text books to study. I passed the HESI the first time I took the test and would strongly recommend using this study guide. The book is thin, but very informative.

I used this to prepare myself to get into a BSN program. I found it to be of great help and I did very well on the exam. This helped me get accepted into the program.
