Adobe Acrobat 8 is Terrific!
This version of Adobe Acrobat (version 8.0) is cost-effective yet has all the features most people need. It works well with Microsoft Office (2003/2007)and has some of the neat features I wanted such as the insertion of comments and sticky notes.

Slower than previous version
My company recently upgraded to Acrobat 8 from Acrobat 6. Maybe there are some new tools that I don't need to use yet. But in general, I'm unhappy with this upgrade. The OCR takes longer. When extracting pages, I get a strange "in use" error seemingly randomly. Then half the pages disappear into the ether and half stay on the PDF I'm extracting from. The new PDF is...

My company recently upgraded to Acrobat 8 from Acrobat 6. Maybe there are some new tools that I don't need to use yet. But in general, I'm unhappy with this upgrade. The OCR takes longer. When extracting pages, I get a strange "in use" error seemingly randomly. Then half the pages disappear into the ether and half stay on the PDF I'm extracting from. The new PDF is not created. Be very careful to check before you save anything you do! Guess I'll just have to slow down and be less efficient thanks to this "upgrade."

I've been working with Adobe Acrobat 5 for years, it was time for an upgrade, but I didn't want to spend a fortune on the new version. This was a compromise. It creates a much cleaner pdf than 5 did, and it was much faster. However there were some flukes (as with any software) romping over my preferences - ie it conflicts with the new Adobe X Reader plug-in for browsers and causes pdf files not to display in a web browser. They can still be shown locally. I simply uninstalled and re-installed and set my preferences again. All in all, it's a good upgrade compromise.

Product worked fine, arrived on time, good price, though it wasn't a retail pacakage as I was lead to believe by the image.
