Of all the software that I use, Adobe products frustrate me the most. They are great. They are literally indispensable. (As in, I could not do my job without them.) But unlike everyone else from Apple to Microsoft, Adobe seems to have not gotten the message about simplifying the interface. Each new version is different, stuff is moved around, stuff is removed, new stuff is added. There is so little consistency, and so little seems done in the name of IMPROVING the product, as opposed to adding to a product checklist or some arcane product lifecycle plan. I was actually on the beta team for the very first version of Acrobat, which was installed off of something like 20 3.5" floppies, many years ago, and I can honestly say that the user experience, while very different, does not feel markedly better. And yet the price continues to rise... In fact, with this new version, I can honestly not find one gem feature, one addition, where I can rationalize the need to upgrade.

Editing a dot-pdf document with this product is as easy as assembling a nuclear reactor in a dark closet using nothing but your teeth. The steps required could hardly be more complicated if the people who created the program were intentionally trying for complexity.

Adobe should be ashamed to offer this product. The steep price simply adds insult to injury. Adobe is merely taking advantage of a market position that is a near monopoly. Once another company figures out how to attack it, Adobe will vanish.

Adobe has lost its mind thinking that anyone would pay over $450 for this confusing non-user friendly product. Maybe in 2013 Adobe can add another 100 features that nobody will use or understand and charge $1,000.

When a company has a near monopoly on a type of software, like Acrobat by Adobe, they basically can do whatever they want. It took me literally over 10 hours on the phone to try to buy the software direct from Adobe, and 8 weeks of arguing after it didn't download. So I cancelled the order and paid more at Amazon. I should have done that to begin with. But there are annoying things-- I can't get Acrobat to interface with my scanner, for example, and have no great desire to spend three or four hours waiting for a tech from India whose English is cookbook and probably doesn't know anything either. If I could have, I would have stayed with Acrobat 9 Professional, which I've been using on my PC, but since I moved to the MAC I needed to upgrade. I wound up paying for the full boat software, though because I couldn't find the serial number of my Windows version. So, to sum, it took 8 weeks and I paid much more than I should have had to, and it still doesn't work well. At least Amazon did its usual great job of getting me what I ordered when they said they would, and did it effortlessly. I wish Adobe, which is also in Seattle would learn something about fulfillment and customer service from Amazon.

Acrobat is one of those software programs you HAVE to have for certain industries and jobs. The functionality is great. I can do my OCR, edit and comment on PDFs, etc...

But the User Interface Design is absolutely terrible! Example - you want to OCR some files? You have to open up a PDF first. Any PDF - doesn't matter which. Then, when you click OCR multiple files, the PDF file you have open isn't on the default list of PDFs to OCR. Did I mention you can't OCR multiple files without first opening a file? Dumbest UI design ever.

I've converted from PC to Mac and purchased the Acrobat Pro XI for the Mac. I have years of experience using this program with windows. I have experienced the program freezing on me to were it is very difficult to shut the program down. I have tried to reload it from the website but it notices the program already installed and does not request to over write the program or repair the program. I am going to try and communicate with Adobe.

Terrible. I've used Adobe Acrobat for a decade. This is the worst version by far. The Mac XI version is incredibly buggy. Freezes for reasons I can't determine. The key to a utility program like this is that it must be STABLE. Features come after the stability is rock solid. I don't have time in the middle of document creation to troubleshoot a piece of software.

Not a 5-star product for a few reasons:

It's ridiculously overpriced. I feel like I'm paying for all of the people that "steal" Acrobat. Not sure who the smarter ones are.

It doesn't look like it was made for the Macbook Pro Retina. Some screens look dated and blocky.

However, if you need to edit Adobe pdfs...this is your baby since you can make them from any number of programs/computers these days.

I was able to grab a physical copy instead of a download in the off chance I get a new computer and need to move it over. Looks like this may be the last time I will be able to do that so who knows what I'll have to do next time.
