Adobe After Effects 5.0 Standard [Old Version]

At the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention at the end of April (2001) in Las Vegas, NV, the most impressive software product being demonstrated was AfterEffects 5. Now, I'm an AE-user, and before NAB, I was thinking, "I really haven't driven AE past the surface in version 4.1 Production Bundle, I can't see getting the upgrade." After seeing the demo at Adobe's booth, I gotta say: "Do you take Visa or MasterCard?"

You have to move up several price ranges to buy into a compositing solution that does more than the newest release. The 3-D elements they were showing made my jaw hit the floor. The web sites and magazine reviews just don't give this product the justice it deserves. You need to see someone use it in a real-live application to see the true potential. AE5 will eliminate the barriers to entry for novice 3-D animators like how Adobe's LiveMotion did for people wanting to get into Flash.

This release is incredible. A must-have for the digital artist.

Here is the REAL skinny on this item. I read the Book. I also read after effects bible. Everything sounded SO GOOD. Afyter effects is supposed to be able to utilize about any format you want. NOT SO.
I made a short Video from my Canon S5 IS, loaded it on my computer. Then tried to UPLOAD it by IMPOPRT, into after effects. ERROR.#1. some other software it needs, NOT FOUND. ERROR #2. Compressor not found. NONE of the user books, or Bible tutorial books on aftereffects ADDRESSED this problem! I write to Adobe. No reply. I write AGAIN. NO REPLY. I call adobe, get a sales pesron, who hypes up the software, makes NO MENTION of any problems, so they are covering it up. I GOOGLE the problem, and everyone else is also having this problem, but no one has any solution. I EMAIL the authors of the After effects Bible, not once, not twice, but THREE times.in each email, I carefully state the problem, and errors. NO REPLY.
If YOU buy this software, and expect it to actually work, you are in for a VERY EXPENSIVE wake up call. MANY others have had this same problem, and there is no solution. I THOUGHT of upgrading to 5.5 off my 5.0, but after reading the customer reviews on THAT, I found out its even MORE problematical. I feel SCREWED over by adobe, because they will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP YOU. They Ignore you, which is even WORSE than getting some foreigner on the phone, who's english is THE WORST EVER,and who still doesn't address the problem OR provide a solution. If after effects actually DID what it says in the user manual, and in the after marklet books, it would be fantastic. But the truth is, I can't get after effects to import a simple short Video off my Canon camera, however, both Sony Vegas Movie studio easily imports the very SAME footage I fail to import into after effects, and I-Clone easily imports that same footage, and Magix movie edit pro also imports the same footage that after effects was unable to import!!!!! So, likie you tell ME what the better software is here? One that works, or one that has huge hype, and won't work at all??? You want MY advice? WRITE adobe, and ask them how to over come this import problem, BEFORE YOU BUY THIS SOFTWARE. Make the give you the answer, because if you hand over your hard earned money to them, you will NEVER get the real help you need to get off square ONE!!!! Better yet, find another software program that is equal to, or better than after effects, and go that route. You buy this, and you will have flushed your money down the toilet, just like I did!!!!

If you have little or no notion of Special Effects and animations or are a well experienced Designer or Animator, After Effects is THE animation and composing software for you. Get all you want and more with this product that goes well beyond the horizon. After Effects has all the features to make bick bucks and it's price will pay for itself in the first project Garanteeed!!! Get online and BUY IT (unless you're online allready)
