1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money!, April 18, 2002
By Sandra (Raleigh, NC United States) - See all my reviews
The help files that come with the Atmosphere builder are infinitely better than this book. Unless you are a total newbie to the world of computers in general, there is nothing worthwhile about this book.

I quote from page 116... "If you play around in Builder and create something that is really cool, you had better learn to save the world or all your effort will be in vain when the computer is reset. Saving worlds and opening them later for more work is where working with files comes in." well, duh...

A lot of the stuff in the book is already obsolete. I was hoping for some decent information and tips about exporting from 3DsMax, but there were only about two paragraphs detailing the now obsolete way to get objects into the builder. (They now have an exporter)

Maybe it's just pointless to write a book about a beta version product, but I also think the author didn't really try very hard either. It was apparent from the "Notes" sections that he wasn't very impressed with Atmosphere, so maybe he was just "going through the motions" and getting this one out of the way. I agree that there are some major problems with Atmosphere, but on the other hand, I am very excited about the future possibilities.

My best suggestion if you need atmosphere help would be to get it from a place like atmospherians.com or other currently updated online forums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful Book, July 16, 2002
By Bruce Neubauer (Tampa, FL USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I needed help with how to create a sign or a picture in a virtual space. This book has useful illustrations and reads well. I worked through some things using the beta version of Atmosphere prior to buying this book. If I I known, I would have bought this book sooner and saved some time.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book makes Atmosphere as easy as checking the weather, June 22, 2002
By Chris Murdock (Orem, Utah United States) - See all my reviews
The clear, concise, yet understandable style of this author presented a very learnable atmosphere (excuse the pun) for me to figure out how to use this product. After getting the hang of it, it is very fun to use.
