5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but great stuff
The main points about the creative suites are that the latest ones are usually not necessary - once you have one, it usually suffices for all that you need and upgrading is not a top priority. They are excellent, but IMO far too expensive - unfortunately if you need Illustrator, Photoshop, and Flash - the Creative Suite is the way to go since it is at least less expensive...

This review is from: Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Web Premium [Mac] [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
I've been a user of Adobe Acrobat Pro since it came out. I also used the Macromedia products for several years and after they merged, bought the upgrades to their suite of products. When Adobe came out with CS3 Web Premium, I purchased it thinking it would have been completely rewritten for the Leopard interface - not so much. Function and feature are there but this product was not developed with Leopard in mind, I got that directly from Adobe technical support. As I understand it, the later versions are a little better but I'm not a fan of the pervasive installation of Adobe products onto my Mac. I've since found alternate products that meet my needs and will continue to use them because of their significantly lower cost to own value.

Not a good product to own in my humble opinion.

The main points about the creative suites are that the latest ones are usually not necessary - once you have one, it usually suffices for all that you need and upgrading is not a top priority. They are excellent, but IMO far too expensive - unfortunately if you need Illustrator, Photoshop, and Flash - the Creative Suite is the way to go since it is at least less expensive than buying them each individually.
I think they are great products, but I also feel they are very pricey. They are worth it in that there is little else in terms of option (yes, gimp is a free Photoshop replacement - but I still prefer Photoshop in ease of use, and Illustrator is my preference for vector graphics regardless of any other option so far, and I don't know of any other way to make interactive Flash movies/games without owning Flash itself).

Personally, the other stuff that comes in the Creative Suite is useless. Especially Acrobat on a Mac - perhaps I am just not a PDF power user since just using Mac's built in PDF creation ability works just fine for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars As usual these days with Adobe, some good and some bad, November 13, 2009
This review is from: Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Web Premium [Mac] [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
Well I needed an upgrade for Intel compatibility, and went into this with my usual hopefulness that things would be better. Alas, Adobe is still Adobe. It's a combination of nice capabilities and potential with slow programs and bugginess and increasingly horrible UI. More and more I find myself finding reasons to avoid using these products as they seem to slow me down as often as speed up my work. Dreamweaver, probably the best and worst of the lot at the same time, adds nice capabilities with Spry and Database connectivity help, but continues to violate basic Macintosh user interface principles, be buggy, and slow. The same pretty goes for the rest of the suite that I use the most, which would be Photoshop (probably the best and most reliable of the bunch), Flash and Fireworks.
