Adobe GoLive 4.0 Classroom in a Book, like the other books in the CIB series, is the ideal companion to the software's manuals. It clearly illustrates the methods for building Web sites right from the opening chapter.
Starting with basic HTML and including simple tasks like displaying text and organizing it in tables, the book describes the key components of Web sites and how GoLive 4.0 can help you build them. Readers will also find coverage on topics like DHTML code for creating animation and menu rollovers, material that will inspire novice users who want to get up to speed and get on the Web in creative ways.
Although targeted at budding Web spinners, some of the more complex issues are not left out. DHTML pages, used for animation and floating boxes for text and graphics, for example, are covered in chapter 5; while cascading style sheets are explored in chapter 7.

GoLive by Adobe is the truest of the drag-and-drop graphical interface tools for web design in which the designer does not need to go into the source code to create an amazingly cool design very quickly. Granted, understanding and diving into the code makes the designer that much more powerful, but with GoLive it's not necessary. Peachpit's "Classroom in a Book" series is excellent in general, and this book follows suit. Written for both Mac and Windows users, the self-paced text offers real-world projects, illustrations, and step-by-step instruction on how to achieve the effects on the screen. All project files are on the CD-ROM, but you will need the GoLive software, which is available on Adobe's web site with a 30-day free download. Recommended for all libraries.

A Good Beginners Guide for GoLive,

I wanted to move up in web design so I purchased GoLive 4.0. I was having trouble going from my earlier simple web design software to Adobe GoLive however. GoLive's complexity can be daunting at first. The Classroom in a Book bailed me out since I was able to move through the lessons at my leisure becoming familiar with different aspects of the new interface. I am now more comfortable with GoLive and will be able to work on recreating my website more professionally.

For the beginner this is a very useful book. I understood it completely with no problems. As far as the Win and Mac displays go, I had no problem with this. The book made a lot of sense. The only problem I did have was saving the files as directed. You have to change the files from read only in order to save. I would recommend it to any one that is new to GoLive.

Waste of money....anyone can do this book in a day. The book constantly keeps telling you to read chapters in the user manual for information.A lot of info not covered.This book is only good for the most basic site.I want my money back. P.s chapters in the book can be found on the adobe site.
