I took a course in InDesign, but it did not teach me what I needed to know for my particular application (book layout). I've been looking for books on InDesign that would provide the tutorials that would benefit me the most, and although the other books in my Adobe library are helpful, Adobe InDesign Revealed gave me exactly what I needed and more. If you need or want to learn InDesign, this is the book you need. Started your document in MS Word? No problem - just drag it to your InDesign storyboard; multiple Word documents ? Drag them all; rearrange the order if you need to, once, twice and more. An amazing book for an amazing application!

I'm currently using this textbook for a class on using the Adobe InDesign software. Its a hands-on/step-by-step approach to completing projects focusing mostly on "doing it" as a learning tool instead of just reading about how to do it. I recommend it for a self-guided course that can be used with or without an instructor.

This is the best workbook on Indesign CS3. I went through 3 other books. This is the best. Neatly laid out. Simple steps given. Perfect if you know nothing about Indesign. This is worth the money, even though it is a high price book. After going through this, you will not be groping in the dark with Indesign.

I found this book to be very helpful in understanding all the features of InDesign. It's not really the type of book for spot references, but rather the appraoch of "let's start at the beginning and we'll walk you through the features, increasing in complexity as we move through the chapters". You get files to work with, and step-by-step exercises which employ your newly discovered skills. At the end of the exercises, it tells you what the result should be, so you can determine if you have effectively accomplished the goal. This is a book for the beginner. I have used this same format for both Photoshop and Illustrator and found that I learned more features than students using other approaches. If you are interested in starting at the beginning and working your way through the software, this is a great book. I used it in the evenings and found that after 4 weeks I had a good command of InDesign.

This is helping me to understand the process of Adobe InDesisgn compared to other products and giving me a better learning curve.
