5.0 out of 5 stars Photoshop CS Image Effects
This is a great book for the Adobe Photoshop beginners. Great step-by-step instructions and visuals. I use this book as a textbook in my Digital Imaging class at the high school level for students in grades 9-12. One would think that a publisher/author would invest in an editor to review the work before releasing it to the public. This book is a pig's breakfast.

Consider: p. 48. Step 10: Go to the Styles Palette and click on the water drop style icon [the one you made in a previous example] . . ..

What icon?

What previous example...

Careful with the bar code lesson as it will turn your computer monitor image upside down; the instructions here are unclear. There is another lesson that talks of beads which is not do-able per instructions. Overall, A Great Text!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of wonderful creative ideas, August 11, 2005
This review is from: Adobe Photoshop CS Image Effects (Paperback)
If you are looking for a book that has a lot of very clever and creative ways to use Photoshop, then this is a superb book. I loved that most of the effects in the book can be created from "nothing" i.e. just using Photoshop in a lot of ingenious ways with no external images required. Start of with a blank white canvas, end up with some quite realistic sky or sea images.
I am not a novice in Photoshop, or an expert, and I learned a lot of great techniques and cool button shortcuts whilst working through the examples, which I though were very clear and easy to follow.

What is an example? I thumbed through the pages and could not find one 'example.'

Boys and girls, it goes on and on. Use your money to go see a movie and use what's left over for a trip to Hong Kong. This book was a lot of money for rubbish.

Positive point? The paper seems to be of good quality.
