5.0 out of 5 stars Great, clear instruction!, April 26, 2007
This review is from: Adobe Photoshop CS2: Step by Step Training (Plastic Comb)
After looking a bunch of other Photoshop books I settled on this one and am very glad I did. So many Photoshop books are giant reference type manuals that I would never read through. I wanted some way to teach myself how to use the program and this book really was what I was looking for. The step by step instructions are very clear and walked me through the program in a logical manner. It's a very hands-on approach to learning and every exercise was very suited to things I've always wanted to do, but never quite knew how. I didn't know much at all about Photoshop before, but now I feel like I can tackle much more professional projects. I would highly recommend this to someone who really wants to learn all the basics of the program. Yes!

You may look at the $75.00 price and see that it has 1/5 of the pages of the bigger Photoshop bibles out there, and you might think it's a rip off. NOT AT ALL! This is the best! I read through countless pages in a Training From The Source manual and after 100 or so pages, I knew little more than how to organize the workspace and use the Adobe Bridge (30 pages worth of Adobe Bridge to be exact).

But with this book after about 20 pages, I was touching up photos, making report covers, masking, adding shadow effects, using layers, and more. This book removes all the crap and gets you going right away without boring you with endless explanations of things you could figure out on your own(ie. how to rearrange the workspace).

This was definitely intended for beginners because it's laid out so clearly there's no need for 500 pages. I bought the Flash 8 and Dreamweaver 8 manu8als from Noble Desktop as well, and they are all on par. I plan on buying the Advanced Photoshop CS2 from them as well. Yeah, it's another $75.00 for that, but who cares, I'M ACTUALLY LEARNING THE PROGRAM! When money comes second to fulfilling your dreams of graphic design, put the rest of the bull**** aside and buy the Step by Step series from Noble Desktop!
