I bought this book for my husband & he LOVES IT!!! He has been into Photo Shop for awhile, now, and welcomed the "newer/expanded" information. FAST shipping from the supplier, too, made this a POSITIVE transaction for both of us!! Thank you!!!

Half the lessons are partial lessons. It assumes you know how to do steps that are not explained. Photo examples for some lessons are not included in the book. This book is very frustrating to use. The book explains a lot of intricacies about Photoshop, but fails to show how to achieve the effects.

For some years, in my opinion, Adobe has not adequately described its very comprehensive software so that the amateur can feel they are getting their money's worth from the investment in it. And it is not an inconsiderable investment. Yes, there are professional courses and videos and "Adobe classroom in a book" but in my limited experience they don't hit the spot. In many cases they tell one how to achieve a result from a technical point of view but don't cover the traps for young players which can waste a lot of time.

This book by Martin Evening is a bit like an encyclopedia. It appears to cover its subject comprehensively and with explanations of why something should be done a certain way. Many people will probably regard it as a reference book rather than a working manual. But for me it will be a valuable book on my shelf since it helps my understanding and improves my use of Photoshop.

This is a great book for photoshop cs 6 when i was in college working toward my BFA in photography. the three books we use for photoshop was Adobe Photoshop for Photographers, Photoshop Artistry, and Real World Adobe Photoshop for Photographers.(any of the Real World Photography books are pretty good for photography) Now i'm not sure if the other two books make a cs6 version yet. but i can say that this book is still great for learning Photoshop. Yes some of the content that was found in older books have been moved to there website for PDF down load but i don't have an issue with that. the author also recommends getting the last book as well because it covers more advanced editing. though I haven't looked at the CS5 version of this book yet it seems to have good reviews though. Might think of checking it out at the library first before getting it to see if it's worth it if your tight on funds.

I had to get this book for class and we didn't really use it so I looked through myself and it was a big help. It has sooo much information and explained things with pictures. It showed actual images of the drop down menus that lead you to the tool it is telling you to use so you knows exactly what you're doing instead of go here here here then here and scroll and on the side there is blah blah blahhh. So I would definitely recommend buying this book if you're a photographer or want to learn more about the confusing world of Photoshop.

The author has worked with and written about Photoshop for many years as each new edtion of the software has been released. This edition deals with changes in CS6 and starts with well written, illustrated summaries of each control in Camera Raw and Photoshop. These are followed by detail descriptions. I read the first half of the book straight through. The second half is best used as a reference work that the reader can dip into. There is a lot of information packed into 800 pages.

As always from this author the information is topical, useful and well-organized. As an experience CS6 user I still learned a lot about some of the more hidden functionality. I bought the ebook because I like to go back and forth on my laptop between the book and the actual menus in CS6. The way the ebook displays on my screen sometimes its hard to read the text and see the related example or figure at the same time. With such a large volume of info, I sometimes wish I'd gotten the printed version since finding things might be easier.

If it's PS, it's in here. Love the way this book is laid out. Love the colored chapter headings making it easy to look things up. Loved the quality of paper. But there's so much in it, that the book is kinda heavy ! Buy it if you want to use PS because I think one rarely knows everything there is about this great but dense product.
