Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Classroom in a Book

This book has been a great help in learning to use the software. My only complaint is that the author ocasionally assumes knowledge which I don't have. Steps are sometimes left out because of this. On the whole, however, it has helped in learning to use the software.

For someone basically interested in the handling of digital images, this book is far inferior to something like "Photoshop Elements 6 The Missing Manual."

I, as a Mac user, was quite disappointed in this book. Unlike other editions of "Classroom in a Book" it is written strictly for Windows format Photoshop Elements. For example, "Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and Adobe Acrobat 8" in the Classroom in a Book series have directions for both Windows and Mac machines.

Bottom line is if you are a Mac user this book is not for you.

Easy to follow book, good photo examples; lets you take control and change sample pictures. Recommend

The description for this item should state that the book and the enclosed CD-ROM are aimed at users with the Windows-based version of Photoshop Elements 6. (Although if you can read the fine print in the lower left corner of the cover you will be able to see that information.) Macintosh users should be advised that there are some significant differences between the Windows and Macintosh versions and those are not dealt with in this book.

I first heard of this book in a digital photography computer class. Since I had the Photoshop Elements 6 software I thought it would be helpfull, I was right! the book was easy to follow. Very informative. If you are new to Adobe Photoshop this is the book for you.If you have used adobe photoshop before this is still a good book to have, It covers everything! leaving nothing out,you will learn fast and easy ways of editing!

I found this book to be as user-UNfriendly as the Elements 6 program itself. After spending hours, indeed a couple of days, reviewing the book, and using the CD, I still had great difficulty navigating Elements 6 for basic organizing. Also, it has a quite limited index. I would recommend finding some other manual for beginning use of Elements 6.

So far I have found that for the most part this book answers the questions that I have regarding Photoshop Elements. One of my only comments would be that sometimes when I want to figure out how to do something I have difficulty finding that specific thing in the book. I think the Index in the back could be more detailed.

I will not review this book as a critic but as a beginning digital photographer. Coming from a film background you need a book as this to navigate this program. The instructions that come with almost? all progams are written for a progammer not a photographer. This book does not make using Photoshop a snap but it stops the headache that you get trying to guess what they are talking about. The disk is a valuable asset also. Buy it you might like a good program even more.
