This program was quite useful. I bought it primarily to edit PDF house plans but slowly have been using it for photos. The learning curve is LONG and FRUSTRATING but you will get there.
Biggest drawback is I didn't realize that I couldn't install it on all three of my PCs which would have been REALLY nice since we often would sit in living room with our laptops but wanted it on our main PC. Adobe absolutely refused to extend a third installation to us (even though I said I would pay $$s for it) and basically just said - buy it again. I would have paid more for a third setup - but not the whole amount again !
We set up REMOTE DESKTOP so we could run it from one PC via another - not as ideal but it sufficed.

Okay, I'm guilty of not upgrading my old Microsoft photo editing programs for the past hundred years and they stopped making the photo editing software. My, bad!
I actually purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 or maybe 7 last year or the year before, but I did not spend the time to learn the program very well, and since it has sooooo many features, it was easy to get lost and frustrated. So naturally, I recently upgraded to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 to really frustrate myself!
Now that I'm on my second generation of using it and I was forced to do some things to use photos on the internet and such, it is amazing. Time consuming to learn, but I believe it will be an investment in the future because Adobe seems to be one of the leaders in photo editing software and I consider time spent an investment in the ability to use the product better as it is improved.
To explain, I am a loyal "Microsoftie," always have been, probably always will be. But, as MS drops some of their programs in favor of developing others, they're leaving me out in the cold. This is not just limited to MS, some other vendors of programs I have used for years are not updating those programs and I am certain it will not be too long before using them, even though they "work," will be certain doom!
Since I already use Adobe Acrobat X (which I have found to be a very good replacement to some other longtime scan programs that scan and convert .pdf's, but to an old .pdf format), and can see that Adobe is building on their software, I feel comfortable that they will continue to build on their photo editing software, and the programs should work together and with any other software programs that I might buy from them in the future.
The only negative I have with Adobe, and this is not just this year, is that I find their "customer service" to be the worst of the worst. I know that's not saying much these days as many vendors try to force you into forums where so-called "experts" venture a guess at helping you or making comments based on nonsense, and so forth, but it is horrible to nonexistent ... in my opinion.

I was confused on how to install the 3 download packages, or in other words, in what order to install them. This is what worked for me:
The Adobe Premier Elements Main downloader should be installed first. It is the primary "Premier Elements" program guts.
This install will require a system restart. As far as I know it is completely separate in functionality from the Photoshop Elements program.
Before you click the install button, click on the View Keys Button, and copy the license key. As soon as you click install, it is going to ask for it. So you mind as well have it ready.
The Adobe Premier Elements "Content" download can be installed at any time after the main program is installed, and operational. It "contain[s] SD and HD content i.e. movie themes, DVD templates, title templates etc" I got that quote from this Adobe Forum Thread for Premier ver 9: [...]
The PhotoShop Elements download install should be done separately, after you are satisfied with the functionality of the Premier Elements program. It doesn't really matter if you install Photoshop Elements, or Premier Elements first. However, common sense dictates to NOT install them simultaneously, but, its your call.
