5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the next edition!, December 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Adobe Photoshop 5 How-To (Paperback)
This book covers image manipulations in a clear, step-by-step format, answering questions as it goes. The writing is clear, the steps are exact, and the techniques clearly go beyond the basics -- yet do so in a way that even I can understand (I think I am an intermediate user). There are unique techniques for selection, use of layers, making patterns, working with web images, and CLEAR discussion of resolution, retouching photographs, and using a scanner! There are some pretty wild specific applications of the techniques. I really like that the LAYERED solutions are included on the CD.

One distraction, The CD images were not put on the CD with extensions, so PC users have to copy them to their harddrive and add the extension before opening. However, I wrote to the author and he mailed me back that solution! He answered another question on making a watermark personally. For me, being able to ask the author questions directly negates any problem with the CD.

I look forward to his book on 5.5...if there is one planned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Photoshop Technique, July 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Adobe Photoshop 5 How-To (Paperback)
This book has the greatest step-by-step details of any Photoshop book I have ever seen. It made the examples and answers a breeze to follow. The examples are exciting and I actually learned how to use the program rather than a set of steps, and I can apply what I know to other examples. I own a lot of books on Photoshop and this is now my favorite. No book covers color like this one, and there are unique tool uses I have never seen (or thought of). A great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive and useful information on Photoshop 5, November 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Adobe Photoshop 5 How-To (Paperback)
This is a wonderful how-to book on Photoshop 5. Many times, I've picked up books that promise help, but then do more to confuse. This book, however, is done extremely well. The organization of the presented material is the best I've seen in computer how-to books. Advanced Photoshop techniques are explained in a step-by-step format that actually makes sense! And the illustrative photos enhance the various techniques discussed. All in all, I would seriously recommend this book to anyone that works with Photoshop -- you'll find yourself referring to it time and time again.
