My professor required this text for Adolescent Psychology and drew almost directly from the sections for quizes/exams. The chapters were really thorough and explained concepts and terms in bold with mini glossary-style definitions when necessary. The photos with captions were supplemental to the chapters. It's nice to have a required book to read that is actually written in an interesting way and keeps you engaged in the reading.

Comprehensive over view of development throughout the adolescent period of life. A little dry, but all text books are, but very informative and well written.

This is great book for those going into education or psychology. I like his impartial nature. Sometimes the references are vague.

Good source of information when it comes to the overall consequences for various lifestyles that adolescents may have. The chapters have plenty of research on types of comparisons and dynamics regarding US and other countries. There is a lack of results shown for Native American adolescents. Hence, minus one star although I find it a great eye opener to needed research in this field.

Steinberg knows adolescence and his book is, for me, the gold standard. Highly recommended as a resource or text. Easy to use, simple to navigate, and written in an easy-to-read way. Highly recommended.

The book was in good shape for being used and I got it at a discount from what my school offered. However, after reading the entire thing I don't think that I learned anything that you can't know from just living your life. It talked about basic things that I assume anyone needing this book already knows. I suppose if you don't know a lot about hormonal changes and maturation than this book is great.

This textbook does not read like a textbook - it is casual and relevant. I learned so much as a high school teacher from reading this. I loved how positively it portrayed adolescents. Worth EVERY penny, I am very happy to own it and I frequently refer back to it.

I find the writing style to be usually pretty relatable with lots of support and evidence for the claims. It's also got little "Food for Thought" questions to break the big chunks up though they're easy enough to ignore if you're powering through.
