Wow!,

This is an amazing CD. When I heard this was one of the main influences of some of today's terrible MTV "pop-punk" bands I was a little reluctant to check this out. Luckily for me this CD is nothing like those other bands. It truely is a great album for anyone into hardcore or punk.

Best punk album ever recorded.,
This review is from: Adolescents (Audio CD)
Without a doubt. A must own. This record stands out from it's peers. It was an instant classic. This album has influenced countless amounts of bands. In much the way the band X wrote songs songs about what they saw in LA, The Adolescents wrote songs about what they saw. Due to that fact, this album captures perfectly the mind set and attitude of the early punk scene. The bonus album, Rikk Agnew's All By Myself is worthy of purchace in it's own right. A vert talented man shows what he is made of by recording ALL the instruments himself. As titled. All By Himself. Classics later recorded with Rikkand Casey's band DI OC life and Falling Out are instant classics as well. Check out section 8

this is one of the best punk albums ever recorded. early 80's LA hardcore at it's best, this album still rocks hard more than 20 years later. rip it up and wrecking crew are definently the best tracks off this album and two of the best punk songs ever written. but other great tracks include: who is who, ameoba, kids of the black hole, LA girl, no way, and i hate children. this album is a punk classic that everybody should own.

"O.C LIFE",

Get this album, or don't consider yourself old school punk! Adolescents basically define what old school punk is all about, whether you are the hardcore surfer or just another "punk" getting shit on by society, your mom, or school. In good times or bad you can always listen to this album, filling your vains with fuel to keep you pumped throughout the day! ( Everyone can relate to the songs on this album, especially "No Way", one of my all time favorites! What are you waiting for...? Go out and buy it!

One of the Best Punk Bands Ever,

If you're only familiar with the more famous L.A. bands like X, Black Flag, The Germs, or the Circle Jerks, check out The Adolescents. They were without a doubt one of the best punk bands of the early 80's. The cd is just terrific. Their songs are fast, and might remind you a little of The Sex Pistols. With any luck it will be re-released, so the cd will be easier to find. Some of the best treasures are the ones you have to dig for...

This is O.C. not L.A.,

This review is from: Adolescents (Audio CD)
The Ad's were from Orange County not L.A. The two places were a totally different life experience. I went to high school with these guys and that's when they wrote these songs. The base player, Steve Soto, went to El Dorado High, the same school that Mike and James from Agent Orange went to. The music was inspired from the f@#ked up mind set of everyone in O.C. back then. AO's song, El Dorado, was a statement of frustration at the mindless people around them in their school. These were the days when jocks would beat you up for being a punk. The Ad's wrote and played with a fury that I had never seen before. Seeing them play at parties and shows was incredible madness. It was glorious. Being an adolescent myself at the time, and having the same experiences that these guys were going through made this music even more powerfull. It was a drug. It was dangerous. It was punk at it's purest, at it's best. I saw these guys play in Seattle last month and even though it's been 25 years since I first heard these songs, they still gave me goose bumps. This is punk rock. This is music. All the new punk is crap when compared to this.

There is a reason you cant find this CD for cheap on the resale market, it's because nobody wants to part with their copy. A must have for any fan of punk or hard rock in general. Every song is classic and captures the sound and speed of the late 70's/early 80's Orange County punk scene. Truly a bonafide top 10 punk record of all time. I listened to it non stop in my car for about 5 months. Well worth the purchase.

25 + Years Later and Still Rocks,

The Adolescents were one of the first punk bands from Orange County, Ca, but not predating "Middle Class" of the mid-late 70's. The Adolescents were excellent and contemporaries of other OC bands; Social Distortion, T.S.O.L., The Vandals, The Crowd, The Simpletones, Agent Orange, and later D.I. (left overs)Alfie Agnew and Casey Royer. The "Blue" album is the best...yes better than the "Balboa Funzone" thing. Their sound is fast, loud, and angry...Bitchin! Classic songs include;I hate children, wrecking crew, kids of the black hole, amoeba...never mind "too many to list". Buy the cd you won't be disappointed. At 37, married with 3, I still skate, and am still motivated by the raw aggression and emotion of this album.
Then go buy; T.S.O.L.(Dance with Me and Weathered Statues), Agent Orange(Living in Darkness and Bitchin Summer), Minor threat, Bad Religion(How Could Hell Be any Worse 2004 release), The Dead Kennedys(Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables and Plastic Surgery Disasters), Social Distortion(1945, Mommy's Little Monster, and Mainliner), and the Circle Jerks(Group Sex) For dessert purchase FEAR (The Record). Now go start you own band!

the Debut album from a very great band,

I thought that this debut album from the Adolescents was pretty good and should be great for newbies. I thought they were a great band (even without Tony Cadena, they were great) this was a band that had really evolved. their next album Brats in Battalions was a little slower and Balboa Fun Zone (if you weren't paying attention) had two singers.
