Product Description
Enter the data for each debt
Enter the data for each debt

Are you wondering which credit card or loan to pay off first? How long it will take you to become debt free? The Debt Payoff Planner app for Android can answer these important financial questions and help you manage your debts simply and strategically.

Dealing with Debt

For most people today, managing debt is just one more aspect of good financial planning. Whether you are dealing with school loans, car payments, credit card balances, or other debt, you need to have a solid plan. This app allows you to compile all your loan data in one place and analyze payment schedules and strategies.

Crafting a Custom Payment Plan

You don't need an MBA to use Debt Payoff Planner, and it won't take hours of data entry. Simply input each loan or card balance, the interest rate, and the minimum monthly payment. Then select how you want to pay them off: highest balance first, lowest balance first, highest interest first, minimum payments only, or a user-specified order. Finally, enter the total amount you want to pay toward your debt each month.

With a touch of a button, the app then calculates your customized payment plan and amortization table. It tells you how much to contribute toward each debt every month, how much total interest you will end up paying, and exactly when you will be debt free. See details by touching any month in the plan. The app can even display your payment plan visually with colored charts and graphs.

Flexible and Connected

What if you want to make intermittent extra payments toward a loan? The app contains a feature allowing you to factor those into your plan. How about if you get a special promotional interest rate? Debt Payoff Planner has that covered as well.

You can export your payment plan information any time you want by sending a .csv file through e-mail. You also have the option of linking your data to Payment Scheduler, a sister app that can help you keep track of your individual payments and their due dates.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not an app for me, but does a great job. May 19, 2011

I'm not the developer or anyone sided with him. I'm in current no financial trouble, so this application has no particular use to me. But, I always download the Amazon free app because, well, it's free! I was disgusted looking at some of the reviews on here. Some people leaving 1 star obviously because the app didn't benefit them, and some leaving 5 stars that was obviously a fake review.

As for my review of the product, it does an excellent job at what it claims with many options. It would be extremely helpful to someone who is in debt. It has a good priority system and breaks the payments apart in a fashionable manner to keep the minimum payment, but make the most strategical payment methods.

This review would have been 4.5 stars if it weren't for the annoying pop-up that occurs wanting you to download an addon for the application.

As for the developer review, ignore it. I will admit, it was a bad choice for professional advertising strategy, but he/she was simply trying to be funny.

Hope this review helped anyone questioning this application.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you don't want all your financials out there May 19, 2011

If like me, you prefer not to release all your banking info to a cloud program that can't get all your accounts synced (aka mint), this may be your answer.
I downloaded it for free. I entered in some information. I was pleased to see the program did what it said: it calculated when the debt would be paid off.
The ads to get the add-on pack is annoying.
The great thing about apps is everyone can find one that works for them. This is good for those of us who prefer not to use mint. It's also great to be able to calculate when you will have that debt paid off.

This is a relatively simple app that lets you enter in each of your debts and an overall monthly payment. It then calculates how long it will take to pay them all off. It lets you try different scenarios of payoff order to see which way is quicker and costs the least interest. I like that you can enter all your information in easily and that it doesn't have to connect to the bank or anything like that. It's probably not going to change your life, but it will help you plan out your debt payment strategy. It is easily worth a buck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does its job! May 19, 2011

This app is great! I've been struggling with how to best get rid of my credit card debt, and this takes my information (which you dont need account number or anything, which is nice too) and calculates based on balance, APR, and amount you are willing to pay, how much to pay to who, etc.

The only feature I wish it had was a way to do a planner by timeframe, like "would like to be debt free by December 2015" for example and tell you how much mony per month youd have to do to get there.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's an okay tool July 16, 2013

I like how I can add all of my creditors and the amounts I owe (with a minimum amount owed) and it calculates an estimated pay off date. My only gripe is that there is no way to edit or update changes or payments made for a particular month.

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple & Easy January 1, 2014
Verified Purchase
I really like this app. It does the job it is meant to do.

The reason I am only giving it 3 stars is because I would like to see the following additions: 1.) Allowing the purchase of this app to be available to the purchaser over several devices. I wanted the app to be available to me on both my smart phone & my tablet, but I had to make 2 separate purchases for each & enter the information 2 times. 2.) It would be nice to have an option of "Pay-off date" in the strategy drop down menu. For example, if I want to have all of my debts paid off by the end of the year, what will the monthly payments have to be for each debt.

These are just minor issues. The app itself was easy to use & had a nice layout with easy to read/understand results.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does Just What It Claims May 22, 2011

I value this app because it allows me to clear my mind and simply follow the repayment schedules provided. The $0.99 worth it to me simply because of the time it saves not having to generate Excel sheet, and the immediate access it allows me to my data. Is a good tool, but as with any tool, it needs to be used.

One major thing missing is no backup. Would live to see an option to backup data. 5 stars if you add backup.

It needs to allow editing to current debts instead of requiring you to delete and start over. Also finance terms defined for beginners would be helpful.
