Customer Reviews

I've tried contacting Adonit support but I'm not having luck with that, either.

Since, otherwise, the stylus will either not write, or offset the line on the screen from the point of contact with the stylus.

Some of the apps I tried using the Jot Touch with were Adobe Sketch, Good Notes and Adobe Suite.

First impression: Gorgeous design. Love the look. No complaints on that. Matches my slate iPad Mini and iPhone 5 flawlessly.

GENERAL WRITING:
It writes fantastically, almost too well so I have to adapt to using it, after having used mostly rubber styluses and being accustomed to the friction between stylus tip and screen. This has ZERO friction or drag on the screen. Also, it's not as loud as the Jot Pro. There's definitely more dampening of this tip.

BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY AND SUPPORTED APPS:
Connects well with the two apps it was made for: Adobe Sketch and Adobe Line.
No support for anything else yet.
Edit: Any apps that supported the previous versions of the Jot Touch also offers support of this new version of the Jot Touch.

It works fine with no bluetooth too, as a normal stylus. The undo button and pressure sensitivity are a big plus when it is connected to one of the above apps via bluetooth though!

ISSUES:
The ONLY problem.. I like to write at an approximately 45 degree angle. This causes the stylus tip's edge (NOT the chrome part so no worries about scratching, but the edge of the plastic tip itself) to make contact with the screen rather than the point, if that makes sense. This means that the line I'm drawing will be about 1mm off from where I intend. Unless I'm holding the pen straight down.. the mark isn't where I want it to be.
Edit: I feel that this issue is more prominent in certain applications but still happens to a certain degree in every app.

If Adonit or individual apps allow some sort of calibration to fix this.. this will be my dream stylus. So far, it's the closest I've come.

UPDATE: http://wp.me/p4OFl4-38 Strangely, putting several layers of first aid paper tape on the tip makes the writing experience much more like pen and paper (adds friction). **bonus: gets rid of the click-click-click against the screen.

I finally got my new Jot Touch with Pixelpoint (henceforth referred to as the new Jot Touch) in the mail, and after trying it out today I can happily say that it's knocked my Jot Touch 4 down to "back-up" status. By no means is the Jot Touch 4 a bad stylus, and I definitely still highly recommend it, but the new Jot Touch's fine point tip gets rid of my one and only annoyance with the Jot Touch 4. Plus, the design and build are top notch, so that helps me feel like I got my $120 worth. I think the Red Jot Touch 4 is perpetually on sale and you can get one on Amazon for $80 or less.

Design & Aesthetics

The biggest difference here is obviously the pen-like tip instead of the disc. It's made of a hard plastic, and I don't see it wearing out anytime soon. Maybe don't drop it on concrete or drag it across sandpaper, though. I think scratching will also be less of an issue with this one since there's not a very large surface area for any particles to get trapped and dragged around on the screen. Admittedly, it was never really a problem I encountered with my Jot Touch 4, but I'm pretty vigilant about keeping my screen (and the disc) clean. The disc-less design also means that there's no cap to unscrew and lose, which is a plus in my book.

The rest of the stylus is very similar to the old one - has that same good weight and balance, rubberized grip, two buttons, and a charging connection on the end.

I bought this with disregard to all the negative reviews posted here, thinking maybe everyone was just over exaggerating. They weren't; this pen has a lot of calibration issues that Adonit nor any of the Adobe programs can fix. After regretting buying this pen and throwing out the packaging, making it all that much more difficult to return, I decided to consult google for others who had to keep their pens and deal with it, I finally found the best solution. I love my pen and it works great now.

I am docking a star because the solution is to get an app called Zoomnotes. Zoomnotes has a calibrator within the program that you can get access to and calibrate your pen specifically to the way you hold it. After calibrating, it seems all the inaccuracies of the pen tip have vanished and I can draw without any problems.

I docked another star because their palm rejection is a little faulty. I use a glove with the index finger and middle finger cut off while I draw.

Beyond all that, this is a great pen, and I love using it now.

I'll be blunt: I was unsure about this product the first 20 minutes of using this with my iPad 4. By 30 minutes in, I started to worry that I was going to return what I had heard to be so promising. But once I figured out the nuances and the settings on the specific apps I bought this to use with (Adobe suite, Penultimate), everything drastically changed and I fell in love.

The pressure sensitivity is astounding, which is perfect for sketching out ideas in any of Adobe's revamped line of apps. The smart buttons save tons of time, making everything even more efficient than before, which is a godsend. I had a Galaxy Note 8 last year (before switching to iOS) and can easily say that this stylus pretty much finally puts iPads on par with Notes. There are a few things that Samsung and Wacom did better, but for the most pressing tasks that everyone who owns an iPad wishes for a Note-like stylus system for, the Pixelpoint is perfect. So happy with this!
