Overall, pray you don't have a problem with the pen because if you don't it will be the best stylus you'll ever use.

Gives a very precise point location when drawing in any drawing apps.

I received the adonit jot for a christmas present for my wife because I take notes for school on my ipad on the app notability. Anyway I was stoked to use it for class and it was by far the best stylus I have ever used. No drag, very precise, and an overall good writing stylus almost like writing with a ball point pen. But two things went wrong with this stylus. It is extremely loud to use during class if you are in a small classroom and the other thing is that after using it twice the disc's glue separated in the middle of class and then it was completely useless. Very poorly made discs. I just ordered replacements so we will see how it works from here but the other thing that was ridiculous is Adonit claims to have a money back, questions asked guarantee so I figured they would at least give me replacement disc for free. So after jumping hoops, writing 14 emails I gave up because they had below subpar customer service and I couldn't get a straight answer from them without getting in their face and being impatient. Overall, pray you don't have a problem with the pen because if you don't it will be the best stylus you'll ever use. But if you have problems, GOOD LUCK!!

When the disk is brand new it works fine. Within 2 weeks it will start skipping and then stop working all together. "Support" will recommend that you clean the disk and clean your screen which helps, FOR AN HOUR. These are too expensive to only get this much use out of them before they are shot. It seems that this is a problem that many people have had based on the various reviews for each of the styluses listed on amazon. The company seems overly defensive and doesn't want to acknowledge that there is a design flaw.

For this reason I woulld recommend cutting your losses and buy a different stylus. It is a difficult position after spending thirty dollars on the original stylus but after you go through enough replacement disks you realize that at some point you have to say enough is enough and stop spending even more money just to get another week of use out of that $30 stylus.

This is, by far, the best stylus I've ever used-and I've been using them since Palm Treo. I love the thin lines and how it glides over the glass. My apps pick up my handwriting better and it makes it look neater. So, I love using it-well, when it's all one piece that is. So, even though I take care of it-somehow (1 year later to be fair)the lid comes unscrewed which makes losing the disk(?) clear thing that goes around point of stylus. I did just fine losing the lid when the lid stayed screwed on (lost approx. 4 a year)). And even when you buy replacement disks-they're not cheap with shipping-they come in a clear bag-and the are clear themselves in so invisible in the bag. Which means keeping the extra one so that you can find it the next time you use the lid a pain. To be sure-I like this pen so much-and as far as I know it's the only one like it on the market-so, despite its weaknesses I'd buy it again.

MY PRIMARY USE:
To use with handwriting to text apps on iPad 2.

GOOD:
-Great product for the price
-Great Design
-Perfect utility

BAD:
-Screw on lid eventually won't stay on
-It's incredibly easy to lose the clear disk
-The replacement disks aren't cheap (when you consider shipping) and they are even hard to keep up with since they come in a clear bag.
-The lid coming off and the easy-to-lose disks are an avoidable problem-I think? If they are bright enough to come up with this stylus it seems like they should be bright enough to fix these issues.

(I'm going to contact the company and I'll update with any more information.)

Please mark this review as helpful if it is to you-and let me know of any further information you'd like. I'm a mother of three small children with a limited budget. So that I only buy things once and keep costs at a minimum I rely on Amazon reviews for the vast majority of my purchases.

This is the only stylus that actually makes the applications useful. I'm buying another one because I do not want to e without it.

I don't know whether I had a bad batch - but the set of replacement disks that I am using at the moment have an EXTREMELY short lifetime - < two weeks.

That's like buying an expensive ballpoint pen and having to replace an expensive ink cartridge far more frequently than one would expect.

After the disk that came with the stylus stopped responding, I tried the aluminum foil trick I read about on the internet, where you just put a few layers of foil between the ball tip and the bottom of the disk. This worked for a while, and then it became unresponsive again. So I tried it again. As predictable as it is, I didn't think about the stress that is put on the lip of the disk socket, and eventually it broke off due to repeated insertion and removal.

When several DIY attempts to substitute the disk failed, I gave in and forked up for these outrageously priced replacements. I have only tried one of them, but it's only been in use for a week or two and it's already starting to develop the same problem of unresponsiveness that the original disk had. As a consequence, I find myself pushing harder and harder on my iPad to get it to work, which I don't imagine is especially good for the iPad. I'm not entirely sure this is an effective means to improving it's response, but as far as I can tell it seems to help.

I want to try using some electrically conductive grease, which I have read helps some people. But then there's the problem of acquiring such a compound.

I will probably continue to use the stylus until such time as both replacement disks have broken, but if that time comes unreasonably quickly, I will definitely be searching for an alternative stylus.

EDIT 30 June, 2013:
I think it is only fair that I come back to this review. These replacement disks have a different design than the one that came with my stylus. This appears to be a functional improvement because I'm still using the first disk in the replacement pack.
