1.0 out of 5 stars Please do not label children who were adopted
"My Adopted Child?" This is 2008. Since when do we label children who were adopted? They are "children who were adopted," not "an adopted child." Adoption is a verb, not a noun in my opinion. I would never call a biological child "my genetically similar child." Just the title alone is in poor judgement.

This is the cutest and most believable book about adoption for parents to share with their children!! I saw myself and my little adopted daughter in each and every page and we love reading it over and over again. The story line about the brown bears adopting a little panda bear was a fabulous idea and the illustrations are precious. I highly recommend this book to any adoptive family. Everyone in your family will love it and will see themselves in the story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book!, June 6, 2009
This review is from: My Adopted Child, There's No One Like You (Birth Order Books) (Hardcover)
I read this to my 5 year. She loves it. It is a loving and sweet way to talk about how our family came to be. Some readers do not like the title. Our daughter is our daughter first. She is also an adopted child, and that will alway be our story.

I like the story of this book, but the adopted child is from a family where he looks different than the rest of the family and that didn't really apply to the family I bought it for. Also, the birth mother in the story willingly gave up the child which also didn't really apply. Just a few specifics I wish I had known before I bought the book for my nephew.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very sweet adoption book, easy to understand, August 10, 2011

This review is from: My Adopted Child, There's No One Like You (Birth Order Books) (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my son, it's pretty good and I liked that the story was not as specific as other adoption books. Some books said things like"mommy and daddy couldn't have a baby" or " we flew far away to ge you" neither of which apply to my family's situation. Overall a good buy and I'm sure we will be reading it together allot.
