5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!
What a BEAUTIFUL book!! I think it will be the perfect way to introduce the concept of adoption to our son. It starts with references to a special birthmom and tells how God had a special plan for a special baby. I cried the first time I read this book. I am so glad I bought it!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for kids adopted at older age
This book starts out talking about adoption and how the birthmom loves the baby so much and makes a plan for the adoptive parents. This is really only appropriate if the reader was adopted at birth. For so many of us this is not the story! I chose not to let my kids read this!

3.0 out of 5 stars r is for redundant, August 22, 2003

while this book has some nice touches, it really does not have enough themes to take it through the alphabet and it a little more religious than the name implies.

What does every child need? To know that he/she is loved. This book is a fabulous way to express that love from A to Z. It's a wonderful avenue to help all children, whether adopted or biological, understand how precious and special they are to their parents. My children and I love to read "A is for Adopted" again and again. You will too!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully written tribute to an adopted child, July 3, 2002

What a lovely way to explain to a child how special adoption is. Every adopted child, whether small or grown, should have this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is only for very Christian two parent families, September 18, 2006

H is for "Heavenly Father..." I almost choked. This book is geared towards families with moms and dads that arranged to get a baby from the birthmother.
Not only that, my 5 yo and 4 you thought it was boring. So did I.
Thumbs Down!

I have given this wonderful book as a gift to several of my friends. Some have adopted children, some are adopted children. I can't think of a better gift for children and adults alike to show what a special gift adoption is. Thanks to Mrs. Cosby for putting in words so beautifully what all adoptive parents feel!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for adoptive families!, March 1, 2002

jill fifer (Phoenix, Az USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: "A" is for Adopted (Hardcover)
This is the best book for adoptive families and friends. Our son was 3 when we got it and he loved seeing the alphabet and the cute graphics and adorable "kids". It has no specific references to religion and it is a treasure to read it to your children. We even sent a copy to our son's "birthmother".

3.0 out of 5 stars A is for Adopted, November 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: "A" is for Adopted (Hardcover)
The concept of this book is wonderful but I had no idea how many religious references there would be. We are not Christian and much of the text was not applicable to our religion. I was disappointed that this book which at the outset seemed so perfect for our family, was not due to the religious overtones. I returned the book.
