I bought this book because I was adopting an adult Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I had never owned a dog before, and it was extremely helpful. It told me some things to expect as normal (she didn't eat for the first few days that I had her) and explained some of her behaviors, what they meant, and how to deal with them. If you are getting a puppy, this book also covers puppy behavior, training, etc. It's a great overview for new dog owners whether you're getting a puppy or adult dog, purchasing from a breeder or adopting from a shelter. Very comprehensive and helpful!!

I picked up this book because I want to adopt an adult dog rather than buy a puppy from a breeder. I have never owned a dog myself and I wanted to be prepared. This book covers so many topics and has great instructions. I would be at a loss without this book as a guide. I highly recommend picking this one up and keeping it close by when adopting a dog from a shelter or rescue organization.

This is a great book. If you follow it, your puppy will be perfect. I ordered several for friends and family.
