If you have a modern Minolta or Sony flash gun, buy this adapter. It solves everything. Want to use your powerful, expensive flashes on another system? You need this baby. Want to use use your flash off camera in a studio setup? You need this baby for that, too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheaper alternative to the Sony offerings
This is a far cheaper alternative to the adapters from Sony. But be aware that the build quality is not great. Mine came apart pulling out the threading for the screws but I repaired it with epoxy. I now have a second one for backup.

Sony has a wonderful wireless off-camera flash system, triggered by IR signals from all Alpha system built-in flashes. It's very handy, but like all line-of-sight systems, isn't always convenient to use. This adapter allows you to use industry standard PC sync cords as well as Pocket Wizards and other radio triggers instead, freeing you from the line-of-sight concern, as well as from expensive proprietary flash cables. Be warned that only manual control is available when triggering your flash through this adapter. If your flash does not have manual controls, it will fire at full power.

These work to get started with off camera flash with RF flash triggers. However I had to super glue each one because my Sony HVL-F58M weighed so much it caused them start to come apart. flashzebra has a purpose built unit that works with my pocket wizards that I just ordered, but I digress. These are entry level for folks getting started out. As you get more serious, you will outgrow these cheap little things.

If you use a heavy flash unit like a HS 5600, be ready to buy several of these, since they are built of platic, they break very easily. Works perfectly though.
