5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Pressure
Pre-1988, and the acid house explosion in England, the only sounds that stood out from the post-Joy Division gothic dirge or soulless 80's pop came from the On-U stable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good rasta for the price.
It's a few cuts I like on this CD, but for the money, I can't complain. But on the other hand, everybody has different taste, so the cuts I don't like, you might love. Now it's not the best I've heard, but it's not the worst neither, but for the price, ... go for it. ... At least you can hear some good tunes. Out.

Pre-1988, and the acid house explosion in England, the only sounds that stood out from the post-Joy Division gothic dirge or soulless 80's pop came from the On-U stable.

Adrian Sherwood was a genius; the music he produced still sounds as fresh and avantgard today. He gathered a serious group of musicians, giving life once more to artists such as Prince Far I, Bim Sherman and even Lee Perry, who had all somewhat fallen by the wayside.

This collection is absolutely essential, not only for lovers of reggae, but also for lovers of hip hop and house, as many original ideas can be found here.

This LP is a blueprint for the music of the next millenium.

This album struck me first for the price, then for the artists, Bim Sherman, Prince Fari, African Head Charge, I mean I was floored. Its a great combination and compilation of the stable of artists that On U was pushing. This album is a great intro, into On U and offers a myriad of sound, texture and splendor of reggae and percussive riddims. I enjoyed it, while not a big fan of AHC and some of the experimental dub, I still found very intense tunes on this CD. Standout cuts: Quanti Jubila, You are the One and the Dub. Nice to have to learn about On U.
