The debut release from a 26-year-old Californian who blends jazz and soul with a smokey ease reminiscent of Sade, Deniece Williams, and Minnie Riperton is a satisfying album. Evans wrote all the lyrics, which often examine the gap between the way things should be and the way they are. The first single is "Reality," a jazzy, vibraphone-flavored track that finds Evans contrasting the world of poverty and violence outside her L.A. window with her dreamed-of utopia where she can find "my peace of mind." The likely follow-up single is "Seeing Is Believing," which boasts an irresistible singalong chorus, the stern admonition, "Don't say you love me if you're leaving," and a dreamy scat interlude where Evans seems lost between anger and desire. This is one of the best albums from the late 90's and where is her follow up? This wonderful singer combines the essence of such singers as Sade, Roberta Flack and Angela Bofil. An exceptional piece of soul. What was Loud Records thinking when they let her go? More proof that a hip hop label cannot sustain Soul and R&B acts to save their lives. Labelmate Davina suffered at Loud, and her Album is worth checkin' out as well. If you are a true music lover, Adriana Evans will send you flying to new heights. I just want more....

This will be my third purchas of Adrianna's first CD. I first bought the CD in 2002 and it was stolen. It took me almost 8 months to find the CD again, and yep, it too was stolen. When you find music that just grabs you and envelopes you as Adrianna's music does, you just want to share it with everyone. I should have learned from my first experience that I should play it and the hide it. All who I shared this CD with fell just as hard in love with Adraianna's voice, style, rythms, and soul as did I. I think I may love her music so much because it sounds and feels like the soundtrack to my life. It truly moves me. Please treat yourself to this CD, the only regret you will have is if you forget to hide it!

This is definitely one of my favorite CDs. I love every song on this project. I really love the songs "Love is All Around", "Say You Won't" and "I'll Be There" I purchased this CD after watching the video for "Seeing is Believing" back in 1997. It is well worth the purchase. I can't for the life of me understand why she didn't make it "BIG". She has a wonderful voice and all of the songs are beautiful, they have such excellent lyrics. I recommend this CD to all. Where's the next CD Adriana?
