5.0 out of 5 stars Adriana, where are you? Your fans eagerly await part II
This is one of the best albums from the late 90's and where is her follow up? This wonderful singer combines the essence of such singers as Sade, Roberta Flack and Angela Bofil. An exceptional piece of soul. What was Loud Records thinking when they let her go? More proof that a hip hop label cannot sustain Soul and R&B acts to save their lives. Labelmate Davina...

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars: Good debut-too bad she got overlooked by EVERYONE.
I'm really a big fan of music that's made with real instruments, decent songwriting, and (if any) quality singers. So using those three criteria for Adriana Evans' self-titled debut, I was "somewhat" pleased with what I heard. It seems to me that even though a good share of the tracks featured the production values of hip-hop artist Dred Scott and therefore contained the...

An exceptional piece of soul. What was Loud Records thinking when they let her go? More proof that a hip hop label cannot sustain Soul and R&B acts to save their lives. Labelmate Davina suffered at Loud, and her Album is worth checkin' out as well. If you are a true music lover, Adriana Evans will send you flying to new heights. I just want more....

5.0 out of 5 stars HERE I GO AGAIN!, February 14, 2006
This review is from: Adriana Evans (Audio CD)
This will be my third purchas of Adrianna's first CD. I first bought the CD in 2002 and it was stolen. It took me almost 8 months to find the CD again, and yep, it too was stolen. When you find music that just grabs you and envelopes you as Adrianna's music does, you just want to share it with everyone. I should have learned from my first experience that I should play it and the hide it. All who I shared this CD with fell just as hard in love with Adraianna's voice, style, rythms, and soul as did I. I think I may love her music so much because it sounds and feels like the soundtrack to my life. It truly moves me. Please treat yourself to this CD, the only regret you will have is if you forget to hide it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Music, Excellent Voice!, December 15, 2000
By
This review is from: Adriana Evans (Audio CD)
This is definitely one of my favorite CDs. I love every song on this project. I really love the songs "Love is All Around", "Say You Won't" and "I'll Be There" I purchased this CD after watching the video for "Seeing is Believing" back in 1997. It is well worth the purchase. I can't for the life of me understand why she didn't make it "BIG". She has a wonderful voice and all of the songs are beautiful, they have such excellent lyrics. I recommend this CD to all. Where's the next CD Adriana?

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Ms. Adriana Evans, December 8, 1999
This review is from: Adriana Evans (Audio CD)
In a time where samples and dubs seem to dominate the music arena, Adriana has come forth with a sound that is original, classy, and live band sound. This is a funky collection of a jazz and R&B fusion. Ms. Evans voice brings you to a musical heaven backed by a witty and superb band. Love is All around starts the upward motion for the cd and just when you think you've heard the best song, she hits you with another roaring song. The cd ultimate climax is In The Sun. If you really like jazz and r&b buy this cd and you too will say "Thank you Ms. Adriana Evans".

Adriana Evan's cd is smooth, jazzy and distinct. A must have for those who favor upbeat, positive grooves. I had this cd in high school and lost it...After relocating it on Amazon, I had to have it back! If you really love jazz and R&B, this purchase is one you will not regret!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice to hear someone with an actual voice, September 21, 2005
This review is from: Adriana Evans (Audio CD)
Adrianna Evans is an overlooked talent. She has a great voice and actually can hit notes without the help of electronics. She can outsing any of the female artist on the scene today and really ushered in the neo-soul generation. This album actually was released in 1997 but still sounds fresh today which is a testament to her timeless music. I hope one of the record company gets wise and gets her back in the studio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless, May 1, 2002
This review is from: Adriana Evans (Audio CD)
I bought this CD over 6 years ago and I'm still listening to it. A friend of mine asked to borrow a few jazz CD's and although she isn't quite jazz, I included this one anyway. He came back and told me how much he really liked "the girl's" CD. Adrianna has a voice thats smooth like mountain dew and seagram's seven (don't knock it till you tried it) "I'll be there" A classic. Although she was slept on by most people, those who enjoy this sound (Jazzyfatnastees,Jill,Amel,India) and own this CD know that they have a timeless and sensational piece of art in their collection

If one of the recent reviewers is accurate in his report that Loud Records (the Label of this cd) is defunct, then get this CD while copies are still available. It is a crime that Adriana Evans name is not as hyped as artist such as Jill Scott or Alicia Keys. This cd is right up there in quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grown folks' music!, February 8, 2003

I'm going to buy a copy for my sister!

I bought this after reading reviews and listening to clips - I'd never heard Ms. Evans on the radio. Well, I was NOT disappointed. Evans has a lovely voice and the songs are well-produced. My favorite by far is "Love is All Around," but there isn't a bad track on the album. "Heaven" and "Reality" are also quite nice. It's sad that talent like this hasn't gotten more airplay!

Great for driving, easy listening, a dinner party, just grooving...

5.0 out of 5 stars Where Is She?, July 27, 2002
This review is from: Adriana Evans (Audio CD)
This is a classic case of a terrific LP getting lost in the shuffle that is the current musical scene. This stunning 1996 release is one of the best album's you never heard, and that's quite a shame. For one, Craig T. Cooper plays guitar on many of these cuts and lends them an air of jazzy, highbrow elegance. Secondly, Dred Scott (of "Nuttin' Ta' Lose" fame) produces with a touch of brilliance, his hip-hop inspired beats are heavy and thumpin', but give the LP a rock-solid bottom end boom sorely missing from most modern soul. Last, but not least, Ms. Evans has a stunning voice that can either carress a note (notice her gentle phrasing on "I'll Be There" and the lilting "Looking For Your Love") wail to the heavens and shatter glass (the bangin', guitar driven "Love Me", my favorite track) or harmonize perfectly with subtle backgrounds ("Seein' Is Believin", "Hey Brother") even without actual lyrics on the choruses ("Reality") either way, the combination of these three elements makes for some of the best soul music you're likely to ever hear.
I sincerely hope that she releases a 2nd LP sometime in the near future, this self-titled debut pointed to the start of something truly special and it would be a shame to banish such a talented young artist into undeserved obscurity.
