4.0 out of 5 stars Affordable alternative to Littmann

2.0 out of 5 stars Littman V. Adscope
I'm a med student. this scope is NOT as good as the littman cardio III.
I listened to both of them for nearly an hour, and also had friends who knew nothing about stethoscopes listen to them. We ALL agreed that the cardio III was much louder and clearer. This scope is also heavier than the littman, with obnoxiously thick tubing. I wish i could have tried the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Affordable alternative to Littmann, January 2, 2008
I used to own a Littmann classic stethoscope and seemed to have lost it at some random hotel I was travelling through. Anyway, losing it prompted me to look for another stethoscope and I figured I would explore another brand this time.

PERFORMANCE: When stethoscope companies label a stethoscope as a "cardiology" stethoscope it typically is because of the thicker tubing, presumably causing more sound insulation so that you can hear "heart sounds" better. This model offered acceptable sound insulation although I cannot say without a doubt that it offers better acoustics than other models.

PRICE: Cardiology stethoscopes from Littmann cost at minimum 120$ so this model can be purchased at almost half the price. A really big plus.

AESTHETICS: The massive tubing gives the stethoscope a high quality feel but the ear buds are made of PVC just like the tubing which makes them uncomfortable for the ears. To my knowledge Littmann just uses "regular" rubber for their ear buds.

OVERALL: Virtually identical performance for nearly half the price, I recommend this model with the exception of the uncomfortable ear buds.

P.S. I am a first year resident in Internal Medicine if you were wondering what I am using this for.

i may not have a lot of experience on the topic but i feel that this stethoscope is very nice. incredible sound exclusion with the bi-lumen and thick tubes and hush-puppy ear-tips the interchangeable heads are very nice too. worked great even in a noisy classroom. nice stereo sound like from a Sprague but w/o the tube noise. definitely recommend

5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Heavy But Awesome Sound, September 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a nursing student and work in a hospital, having this around my neck for long periods of time it can get a little heavy. However, the sound is awesome, crisp, and clear. I also love how the bell can change into a pediatric diaphragm, which is very convenient considering I have to learn on all different sized patients. This way I don't have to buy two separate stethoscopes. Plus the price is great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Alternative to Littman, January 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My Littman cardiology III disappeared at work one day, so I had to look for a replacement. I was hesistant to try another brand, but decided to go out on a limb and see if another stethoscope would work for me. So far, I have not been disappointed. Sound quality seems very similar to the cardioloy III, however, I can only make a guess since I am relying on memory instead of a direct comparison to auscultation with both stehoscopes side by side. The build quality is pretty solid. Thirdly, the price point was reasonable at about half the price of the Littman. My only complaints are it is a bit on the heavy side, though my Littman was not necessarily a light weight stethoscope, and the ear buds have fallen off twice. The ear buds screw in, so a little tightening has seemed to fix that problem. I am a nurse who works in intensive care and appreciate a good stethoscope for my assessments. Lastly, I'll not forget the day a medical student needed to borrow a stethoscope and I handed him mine. After listening to the patient's chest, he turned to me and said "Wow, this is really good! Thanks a lot!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, May 22, 2009
The large variety of ages and sizes of patients in Pediatrics (1 day-17yrs) makes this stethoscope invaluable. It's held up to the cleansing wipes we use
and the sound quality is excellent. What I missed using an "adult" scope on
the littlest ones, is now much easier to hear. This stethoscope stands up
to the Littmann and it's cheaper. Now, when ADC reduces the weight of the head and includes truly small ear pieces I'll get 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as the Littman cardiology, October 12, 2008

I'm very surprised at how good this stethoscope is. My Littman died after 10 years, and this was a great less expensive replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, December 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great quality can come in an affordable price. The stethoscope is built very well and is sturdy, a little heavier than the average scope, but it picks up sounds much better. Heart sounds, Lung sounds, and Bowel sounds are much clearer and sharper then the non cardiology type scopes. This has proven to me that you do not always need to pay top dollar for a littman to recieve the same type of quality. Great buy, I hope i do not have to buy another one, but if i do I will gladly buy this again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great acoustics, September 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have always owned littman stethoscopes, but with my husband in school I have VERY little on hand cash. So I grudgingly purchased this one. Let me just say...I LOVE IT! I'm a pediatric critical care transport nurse and I can actually hear with this stethoscope in the back of an ambulance. I'm as impressed with this as I was with my cardiac III littman. Why pay littman's prices when you can get the same quality or better with this one! Heck, this costs about as much as just purchasing the tubing from littman!

I work as a paramedic and was looking for a replacement for my aging Littmann Master Cardiology. I had the opportunity to try the ADC Cardiology during a special medical event and was pleased with its performance. Given its low price I was comfortable taking a chance purchasing this model to be my field stethoscope. I have found that it performs very well in the back of the truck, with clear identification of the key Korotkoff sounds in even hypotensive patients.

It is certainly bulkier and heavier than the slim Master Cardiology, which requires me to wear it around my neck rather than in a BDU pocket. While I have not had any issues with this yet, I feel I'll be more likely to leave this stethoscope on the truck at the end of shift.

Bottom line: the price is lower than comparable the Littmann, without sacrificing quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars superb every day use stethoscope, June 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i take care of neonates to adults and use this stethoscope everyday. The first day my neck was a little uncomfortable due to the increased weight of the bell. But then the quality of sound was so wonderful that I made myself like this despite the uncomfortable feeling around the neck. It took all about 2-3 days, now its been about 5 months of everyday use and i absolutely love this steth.
In addition its so obvious that no one can take your steth. Reason being almost everybody has a litman and i have lost 2 of them despite having etched a name on it. People dont care abt Litmans anymore they all look the same and its hard to go question somebody if they have ur steth.
With Adscope, since I am the only one in my grp using it,people recognize it the steth walks right back to me even if i misplace it!!!
