Editorial Reviews

A fresh, social and political look at the $57 billion-a-year Adult Entertainment Industry and its effects on 3 subjects who agree to view porn 1 hour a day for 30 days.

Strip club owners, strippers, porn stars, top-of-their-game experts and 3 unknowing subjects hammer out an exclusive look into the soul of the porn biz.

Director, Lance Tracy, IMDB (Best Director, NY International Film & Video Festival, and 5-Telly winner) maturely balances humor, shocking honesty, science and entertainment.

THE ON-CAMERA EXPERIMENT: THREE SUBJECTS: A single man and a married man are separately subjected to a steady diet of porn, strip and sex clubs for 4 weeks. The wife has plenty to say about her husband's voluntary exposure to porn. The subjects consistently fill out behavior and attitudinal surveys. With the help of several research experts, the filmmakers carefully document the results. Simultaneously and independently, a major university conducts a parallel study with 100 college students. The results are staggering and conclusive.

THE EXPERTS: In November of 2004, conservative Senator Brownback held a Senate hearing on the effects of pornography. He invited 4 experts who all testified that porn has only negative effects. This ticked off the porn and sexologist industries that see nothing wrong with it. Host & director, Lance Tracy hunts down these experts for a one-on-one. He also gives the porn industry a chance to respond to the hearing. Larry Flynt, Ron Jeremy, Nina Hartley, Sharon Mitchell. Tom Sizemore and Art Alexakis from Everclear also weigh-in.

THE JOURNEY: Lance Tracy crosses the country on a political, social and moral search into the hearts of sex-workers, people on the streets, experts and the 3 subjects who unveil their souls. He looks behind the secretive doors of strip clubs, and private strip shows where self-masturbation is definitely legal and the bigger the tip, the bigger the trick.

THE EXPOSURE: He unveils surprising porn industry involved corporations like: AT&T, countless hotel chains and family-oriented retail outlets. All sides get their fair share of the revealing spotlight.

THE ANSWER: Is porn really addictive? Are children being sexually exploited? Who should teach sex education? How much of the responsibility should the porn industry take to provide treatment for potentially addicted customers? Is porn a healthy sexual arousal tool for consenting adults? Should porn be used to treat sexual dysfunction? The film explores possible answers to these hard questions, providing an unexpected conclusion.

RATING: Not Rated by the MPAA. No Nudity. Foul language in some interviews. Foul Language can be turned OFF in SET UP on DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eye opening July 4, 2007
Format:Amazon Instant Video|Amazon Verified Purchase
This documentary is excellent and confirms my suspicions about "porn addicts." I am as attracted to women as any other heterosexual, but I never have understood the fascination with porn. This movie shows clearly how it affects the men who watch it. To be honest, I expected the conclusion to be "pro porn" but it was evident halfway through the documentary that they had uncovered some ugly truths.

1.0 out of 5 stars This documentary seemed biased to me... June 30, 2012
By HAC
Format:DVD
I love psychology and human behavior and I'm always looking for documentaries that provide a good insight in the human psyche. I'm not a professional, just an avid reader on the subject. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with this film since its obviously biased with one opinion from the beginning.

Just look for the name of the director and some of his projects and some of the guests and you'll find that they have some sort of religious afilition, although that detail is not mentioned. I'm not bashing religion, it's just that when religion or conservatism is attached to a documentary about sex and porn, you can't help but to notice right away it has an agenda.

On the plus side, the film is well executed and edited.

2.0 out of 5 stars Supposedly open minded June 27, 2012
By Paul
Format:DVD
As I watched this I really felt like I was listening to anti-sex campaigners from the 50's and earlier. It sounded like a slightly more sophisticated version of those old anti-sex, anti-masturbation campaigns. This is NOT an opened minded look at sex or porn. It's more moralizing by the same kinds of people who were telling us that we should be mutilating our children's genitals to keep them from masturbating.
