I was sorely disappointed and didn't even finish reading the book. This is a self-published book so unfortunately the pictures are bad and scant and the editing is amateurish. By the author's own admission in the book, she does not give good direction for crafting and is not a cook. What's in this book then? In almost all the pages I did read, the author recommends using other books or websites or the author's own website. Then page space is taken up by demands of compensation from those other authors and websites (and even the publisher) for putting their name in her book, it's undignified. (Speaking of undignified, the author even put her own review on Amazon for this book...5 stars?) Also, being bombarded by negative attitude toward ideas that she doesn't like ("stupid" "lame" "boring") is a real turn-off. All the while, her ideas are not new or creative. The author either puts her spin on someone else's ideas or gives partial thoughts because she can't remember what she did before. I am returning this book because the author did not earn my $10.99 and I don't care about the return postage for I purchased other better hallowe'en books at great prices thru Amazon.

I have to say that it's obvious that the author is a kindred spirit. She definitely has attitudes and tastes similar to mine about Halloween, which is why I had such high hopes, even seeing that this was a short book (68 pages).

I give Ms. McCarthy credit for publishing her own work - that takes guts. Her writing style is conversational and pleasant to read. And I understand the pricing -- self-published books are not cheap to start out with, and if one wants to make any kind of profit at all, one has to add a bit to the base. But this is not a book worth $10.99. It's barely even a book: it's under 60 pages of large print (58 pages of *content*) and a handful of black & white photos.

After the second recommendation to use *another book* (Halloween: The Best of Martha Stewart Living), I stopped reading and just skimmed a little. I would have happily paid the same price for a book of the same length with normal-size text (meaning more content) and fewer recommendations for other people's books and trendy products that might not be available in a couple of years.

I purchased this book based solely on the recommendation of Preston Bailey's facebook page. Basically, he gave it a rave review. Being a HUGE Preston Bailey fan, I figured I couldn't go wrong following a recommendation of his or his staff. Wrong! I have a fairly extensive Halloween library, and this is not even close to being in the same league as many of my other books. While this book has some good recommendations on websites and sources for products, it has very, very little actual how-to content. That, coupled with the lack of photos, makes this book, in my opinion, not worth the money.

Waste of money! Don't buy the book, just go to her website as it's all the same thing!
<...>

She plugs the website throughout the book anyway, so you should just start there. And go to Martha Stewart for the rest of her "ideas".
