CERTIFICATION REVIEW BOOK, DIFFERENT THAN THE OTHER BOOKS OUT THERE. FILLED WITH POINTERS, AND DETAILS TO KNOW FOR THE EXAM. ALSO GREAT PNEUMONICS TO HELP WITH TEDIOUS DETAILS THAT ARE DIFFICULT TO REMEMBER. A MUST BUY IF TAKING THE CERTIFICATION EXAM.

Best review book out there!!!,

This was my third purchase of a review book for both the ANCC and AANP Adult exam. I also bought the Fitzgerald and Millonig, now the TOP 3 when you search for ANP on Amazon. My take: the Leik and Fitz are all you need. Both have hundreds of questions, review sections and snippets of information to make you think. I would even suggest buying these as text books for school and will take these to the office as a source of clinical information. Yes, the books are that good and up2date. The Leik is handier for size and has randomly sorted questions (similar to the exam). Fitz is nationally known (she writes some of the questions). Millonig is compiled by multiple authors. I personally prefer the Leik. All serve the purpose they intend, to get you to think and review what you either forgot or missed in school. Good luck!!!

This book has a lot of useful information, but I have found too many content and grammatical errors, which make me hesitant to use it.

Not perfect, but the best out there for sure!,

This book has some errors, but compared to Fitzgerald (which is good, but more information than you need and doesn't talk about professional issues at all), it's more accurate of the exam, and tells you what you need to know. Of course, it needs some revision of errors, and it COULD mention more about legal/professional/ethical issues (which is like 50% of the exam by the way!), but they go farther than the other books.
There are also an awesome 500 practice questions in the back! I just passed the test with a high score, and I attribute it to this book. Leik, you rock!

Too many mistakes,
This review is from: Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification: Intensive Review (Paperback)
This book had lots of helpful info that Fitzgerald did not have. However, I have found at least 10 mistakes in it so far. Incorrect generic/trade name combinations, increase/decrease mix-ups, and outdated treatment advice. Do not use this as your only review book.

This review book had a lot of typed errors in it. I found at least 7 questions in which the answers given seemed to be wrong or were numbered in error. I would not recommend it as your only study source.

I have used other texts and find this one to be very helpful. Lots of helpful tips and memory joggers.

Inadequate spectrum of illnesses/conditions,

This review is from: Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification: Intensive Review (Paperback)
The presentation of the material is good in that danger signals and normal findings are listed. The topics covered are limited, so this is inadequate as a primary source for review. It is a good review of the review. It's not helpful as a reference because the index is not comprehensive; for instance, MRSA nor cellulitis appear in the index. There is good information in the book, but it is not thorough and the index is not exhaustive.

This book was concise, to the point and covered a lot of very important information. It was helpful and reliable and helped me identify areas that I needed more review in. I would recommend this as an adjunct source.
