Remember when it was considered somewhat "normal" for adults to wear pajamas (notwithstanding the expression "cat's pajamas," implying that pajamas were so desirable a cat would be living the life of luxury to own a pair)? Well, guess what. They're so out of style, even Amazon no longer carries more than a few, over-priced, grotesquely sized (small or triple large) remnants of the proper attire for retiring that apparently has been retired. Watching my son, it should have dawned on me that young people don't bother with PJ's any more, and should he hit the lottery, he can flaunt his status by ordering not pajamas but "sleepwear" from Amazon. That means that manufacturers can charge "by the piece": tops can go for a hundred or more, and bottoms (since tops, apparently, are considered quite expendable), can go for upwards of 500. Several years ago I was able to order pajama sets from Amazon, free of postage, for less than fifteen per set.

The pictured pajamas come out of a catalog advertising trendy, ultra cute articles of clothing for darling kids. The seller wants to assure older guys that they can still wear them, be considered a "buddy" by their 2-year-old and without necessarily being in their dotage. (I'll confess that since these pajamas are obviously made for seniors I'm a bit disappointed to see no mention of an AARP discount. Maybe that applies only to my old Tabby.)
