The easy way to learn piano, August 16, 2000
This review is from: Adult Piano Student: Level 1 (Paperback)
I find this book very easy to follow as my nephew also learns piano/casio using this book. I have no knowledge of music but I was thrilled to play piano using this book. One must complete all the levels to gain some proficiency. I will recommend this book to all those people who want to play casio or piano.

FANTASTIC book for beginning adults..., January 16, 2007
This review is from: Adult Piano Student: Level 1 (Paperback)
This book is perfect for adults. I was told by my mother that I had taken a piano lesson or two as a child but refused to stick with it--I don't remember ever taking a piano lesson. In the 5th grade I started the trumpet, but disliked it and dropped it rather quickly. That was nearly twenty years ago. Now, as I approach 30, I am remedying my neglect of a classical education including music. I have been taking lessons from a great teacher for five months, 4 to 4 1/2 using this book, and I am almost finished with it.
Unlike books designed for children, this one has little to no foolish 'author composed' ditties that are embarrassing for an adult to play simply to learn a note or a key. The first neat little song is entitled "On the Lake" and it is written by the author, however it is charming and not insipid. The next tune, "Green Gravel" is just fun and bright. A few others I liked include "Ice Skaters," "The Clock," "Big Chief Crazy Horse," (although that one is a tiny bit juvenile, and especially "An Old Fashioned Waltz," all by the author, as well as "Melody," a simplified arrangement of Tchaikovsky from his 6th Symphony.
For the adult who is learning to read music at the same time as learning to play the piano, this book is unbeatable. I knew the acronyms 'FACE' and 'Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge' from when I was a kid and I knew whole notes through sixteenths, and the rests, but that was it. Now I know so much more, as well as have an inkling of how much more I have to learn yet. AND, I'm so excited about that voyage! I am purchasing the second in this adult piano book series soon.
