I am a shovel guy. I have used the low tech, bozo proof and multi-purpose shovel on my daily "Tour de Merde" for decades of picking up after my generally larger furry four legged family members. My dogs share 4.5 acres with me here in Oregon . . .and our daily "Tour" is one of the routines that we count on to give order and meter to our extra-urban life. It also reduces the chance that my playful guys (101 lb. Baxter and 84 lb. Fuddly) will inadvertently step in and then track their poops back into the house. The shovel has proven itself in all situations . . .with the possible exception of tall grass.
Our ritual was recently disrupted by a surgery that put me on crutches for an extended period of time. It quickly became apparent that hobbling over the property on crutches while carrying a shovel was not in my limited skill set. Even the use of a shovel on while balancing on crutches proved problematic. The poop was piling up and I needed to find a one handed tool that could be used while teetering and and carrying a poop bucket. I had previously tried a less well built plastic clamshell scoop with dismal results. They quickly collapsed and broke under the strain of the tasking here. It was with some measure of skepticism, but with a pressing need that I placed my Amazon order for this scooper. I was pleasantly surprised . . .with one exception. The Good: This scooper works exceptionally well with just one hand. It is built of much heavier plastic than the previous purchases and seems to be holding up with the heavy use quite well. It pulls the poops out of tall grass where a shovel does poorly. It can accommodate multiple pile pick-ups after some practice and skill building, and does have a problem with dropping/escaping poop like other scoopers. It has even had some success with those tricky "runny" offerings. It is easy to clean and feels comfortable to the hand even after extended pick-up sessions. The design is clever and well thought out. It is moderately priced . . .and a better value than many less sturdy tools. The build quality seems superior . . except for the handle pins. The Notsogood: As others have mentioned, the use of plastic pins in the handle is a poor design choice. They tend to work themselved loose over time and with repeated use and need to be checked frequently and pressed back in. As suggested by a previous reviewer, I will be replacing the plastic pins with small metal nuts, bolts and washers. This tool still gets frequent use, although now that the crutches are put away I am back to using the shovel for most of the property. I keep this scooper handy for times when the shovel is in use elsewhere or has been left at some distance from the place of pooping. Baxter, Fuddly and I recommend this scooper for anyone not previously disposed toward (or with no compelling need for) a shovel. We have found great satisfaction in a "Poop well scooped" . . .and this tool is up to the task.

This product works great. Nice price. Ive bought two already. One for each house. I sometimes get behind on my pickups in my backyard and with this scooper, i can pick up about 5 separate poo poos (incidents, not individuals.. so thats lots) from my malamute. buy one!

A good product, plastic but practical. It does the job adequately and is fairly priced.
