I set this up by my TV to use as a clock (no wall clocks visible from my seating position). I failed to realize just how large the numbers are. I measured and they are 1.8" tall (as specified). They seem larger than that. I could read this from across a long room. When I say long room I mean like 40 ft away wouldn't be a problem. It looks huge from 10 feet away, a smaller display would have been better, but this is visible.

The thing I love about this is the RED display. It isn't as distracting when it is near the TV, and it doesn't blind you when you look at it. Many displays like this go to more aesthetically pleasing colors, but they are harder to look at.

I didn't test the alarm function, as I didn't buy it for that. My only real complaint with the clock is there is a small amount of flickr to the red numbers if you stare at it. Build quality is nothing great, but good enough. I would buy one again.

Just received the alarm clock and set the time and alarm, kept the time but the alarm didn't work, in order for the alarm to be turned on you must slide the cheap little button on the back of the clock back and forth and gently push down until the alarm indicator lights up, even then it may turn off after a few minutes. Also the clock itself is very bright, to the point that it kept me awake. I do not recommend.

I bought this clock at a local Aco Hardware store. It was very bright. I decided to see what is inside. Here is what I have found:
1. The electronic that drives this clock is similar to the one that drives the "Quartz" wall clocks. That is why it may run faster or slower by up to one minute each month.
2. When the clock is connected to the 115 Volts mains, there is no current drain from the backup 1.5 volt AA battery. When the clock is not plugged to the main, the battery keeps the time running while consuming only 28 micro amps. (Good for 4 years unplugged...)
3. The display is too bright because the designer forgot to place resistors to limit the current flowing from the processor to the LED segments. This higher current is to blame for the defects mentioned in the one star reviews - it can destroy the processor (no display) or destroy one or more segments of the display after some time of operation.
4. I made some temporary fix to lower the risk of failure: I soldered a 39 ohm 1/4 watt resistor between the transformer output and the circuit board input. It has reduced the total current from about 70mA down to about 25mA. The display is still quite bright.
I hope that the manufacturer reads these reviews and take the proper actions for their future products (unless this clock is designed to fail and force people to buy new clock every few months).

I searched for a clock with a smaller case with large numbers for my entertainment center in the living room. This LED clock was better than I thought it would be when it arrived. The numbers can be read easily from anywhere in the room. The numbers are large and clear but not so much that it hurts the eyes or really stands out. It takes a single back up AA Battery if the power goes out. The battery did not come with it. Everyone that comes over compliments on how easy the clock is to read and how soft the numbers look. I tried a few others and the numbers were so bright they bled together and were unreadable from a distance. I have bad eyes and can see this clearly from a distance without glasses both day and night. I didn't even need to read the manual to set this clock. Very simple! This by far is the nicest small clock I have ever purchased and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

This clock works fine, though nothing special except a great price. We wanted a clock with an easy-to-read display, but got more than we bargained for here. We didn't stop to consider just how big the 1.8 inch numerals would be. With the bright red LEDs, it's a bit startling to see, but great if you're eyesight is challenged or if you want to see the time in a big room. Still, once you get used to the size, it's really nice to very easily see the time from anywhere in the room!

Bought this item at the end of January 2012. At beginning of April this item broke, 2 of the red lights on the clock went out. This item was not moved, touched or even bumped since the time it came out of it's packaging. Poor quality.

This clock worked fine when I got it and the large display in an overall small product was very convenient. But after just 4 months, one of the LEDs stopped displaying so it was a waste of money.

Not worth the money.
Not all the led lights in the numbers works.
Alarm controls in inconvenient spot on back of clock.
Cheaply made. Buy a different alarm clock.

Runs pretty accurate (acceptable accuracy). Some people may find it too bright at night. It will be great if there is a dimming switch.

This alarm clock looks simple but works great. The numbers are large and easy to read especially if your vision is blurry early in the morning. It's bright in the dark but does not give off a bright glow and thus does not light up the room. The only issue that I seem to have with it is that after a few months it seems to keep falling behind maybe a minute or less. I've had to adjust it a few times which isn't a huge deal.
