2nd Edition means many errors,
By "audiohorizon" (Albany, Ny United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Advanced Accounting (Hardcover)
Recognize that this is only a second edition and that all the bugs have not been worked out yet. I have found several typos, misprints, errored calculations, etc. within this text. Also, the layout is not student friendly. Studying for several hours from this text will cause headaches. It is very difficult to look back in a chapter and find something as the sections don't readily stand out. The authors appear to struggle at times to clarify the issues surrounding a topic. Very often this vague writing leaves the student with the responsibility of deciphering the author's intentions. Also, the errors can cause horrendous confusion. They can be overcome, but only when the student understands the material enough to recognize an error. Overall, this is a fairly poor book especially for those looking to learn advanced accounting. This book should be more accurate as the only change it really recieved is an update concerning the impairment of goodwill.

Tension Headache,

I am disgusted that of all the Advanced Accounting books available my university chose this book. If you want to learn Advanced Accounting, chose another alternative. This book will give you a headache.

The reviewer who read the book,
This review is from: Advanced Accounting (Hardcover)
This book is really fun to read. It presents the three methods(partial equity, full equity, and cost method)in worked-out accounting sheets and refer to the journal entries, I do not know why some of the reviewers gave it one star. I read the book completely and the only thing I was not happy about was the use of small letters in the last three chapters, I would have given this book 4 stars but I read the reviews from the reviewers that gave it one star and I do not agree with them. I am giving it 5 stars. My opinion is this book deserves 4 or 5 stars

I don't understand all the negative remarks about this book. I know the material is hard to understand, but what can you expect from an advanced accounting textbook? I think they've made the material as easy to understand as possible, and relatable to todays business world.

horrible book,

my teacher is horrible and to add insult to injury this textbook is just aweful. I cant even attempt to teach myself because i am so confused with the language and disorganized nature of this book. Advanced Accounting is hard and it is even harder when the textbook is so poorly written. The information is all over the place. It has no organization to it. She decides to just throw in all the FASB and such and it just makes it all more confusing. I have had a lot of textbooks and most of them use simple language to allow for the material to be understood. It seems like Jeter decided to make it as complicated as possible. It makes the material seem much harder than it is. I would not recomment this textbook to even my worst enemies. It is just awful.

Great coverage of difficult material,

Having studied under another book on the same subject, I'm able to appreciate how well this book is written. It makes the seemingly impossible to understand not only doable but almost fun, by including plenty of illustrations in a straightforward format as well as real-life boxes on current events.
The Excel tutorials made learning even easier when I got stuck occasionally on a particularly difficult concept.

The 70's are over,
By Husker Ron (Portland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Advanced Accounting: AND FARS 2006 (Hardcover)
This text is absolutely horrible. This book is a throwback to the textbooks of the 70's. Incredibly boring and very poor examples. The accompanying study guide is a complete joke and not worth the money. This book is loaded with errors. If you have problems going to sleep, then read this text. No color, no diagrams just plain text like the olden day books. Not a good book for learning.

awefully written,

this book is undoubtedly awefully written. I normally do not bother to make any comments unless it is beyond bear and forbear. This one fits nicely and consequently got my comment. Can someone write a better book?
