Just what it says - advanced, not basic,
By A Customer
This review is from: Advanced Deck Building (Black & Decker Home Improvement Library) (Paperback)
The book had good pictures and several good ideas on how to create an advanced deck. It is well written and easy to follow. This book includes multi-level, decks with angles or curves, low profile decks, etc. However, they assume that you are an advanced deck builder and gloss over many of the basics. They do have a basic deck building book by the same company that they recommend, although I haven't seen it anywhere.

This review is from: Advanced Deck Building (Black & Decker Home Improvement Library) (Paperback)
This book is a rehash of Black & Decker's basic deck building book, and has some add'l fluff added to it that suffers the same fate, in that much of the info between the covers is no longer accurate concerning acceptible deck building methods, and it's hopelessly out of date re: materials. If one were to construct a deck as outlined in this book it wouldn't be conforming to the latest far more demanding building codes, esp those adopted about a yr ago. The Publisher should either cease publishing this book, or completely revise it. . .Absolutely a waste of money, in my opinion.
