5.0 out of 5 stars Used As Inspirational Readings To Start The Day, February 27, 2010
This review is from: Advanced Contemplation The Peace Within You, Vol. 15: Notebooks of Paul Brunton (Paperback)

From note 324, on page 211:

"... After he has learned to rest inwardly in the thought-free state at times and amid all circumstances and not merely during meditation, it is not essential that he should keep permanently free from thoughts in order to keep always in the [transcendental] awareness.

No mental or physical activity can interrupt this insight once it has been fully realized.

For then whatever thinking the duties of earthly life may rightly demand of him will be done within the [transcendental awareness] and not with any feeling of being apart from it ..."

That quote describes my consciousness after I've supped deliciously from this fountain of bliss, crystallized as words in a book.

Everyday, right after meditation, I open it and I get a deep drink of divine inspiration before I go out to tackle the bustling world.

It is perfect for practitioners of transcendentalism, meditation, or spiritual yoga.

5.0 out of 5 stars Advanced Contemplation, August 12, 2010
This review is from: Advanced Contemplation The Peace Within You, Vol. 15: Notebooks of Paul Brunton (Paperback)
In my opinion, this Volume of Brunton's Notebooks is essential for any serious seeker on the Spiritual Path. In the Advanced Contemplation volume Brunton discusses the Long and Short Paths and how to balance them, the Dark Night of the Soul, Contemplation, and advanced meditations and exercises. As in the other volumes of his Notebooks, the book is arranged in short and long paragraphs as opposed to running narrative - which makes them perfect for snatches of reading and reflection here and there when we have the time. The Peace Within You volume speaks of the ways to attain true Happiness, the true meaning of Detachment - and finding the Stillness Within. Paul Brunton, as always, speaks clearly and with the Wisdom of the Enlightened. A must for any spiritual bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars A comfort to the seeking soul, November 10, 2010

(REAL NAME)
Thankfully, I was introduced to the writing of Paul Brunton when I was 22. I have turned to many of his books over the years as I have always been seeking for something more than what a 9-5 "normal" western life has to offer.

Having gotten to this volume 25 years after beginning with Volume 1, I am deeply grateful once again that PB took the time and made the effort to write down solid, trustworthy, spiritual advice to those like me who seek but have no single teacher. In this volume, he outlines the Long Path and the Short Path- clearly- and in doing so, gives great comfort and provides the light of clarity to those of us wandering around looking for something deeper, for clues and signs that we are indeed "on the right path."

p. 121 #208 "To live neither in the present nor in the future but in the eternal calls for a power of self-mastery that is extremely rare and for a perseverance in self-reform that is truly heroic."
