Bubble Flare Kit,
This review is from: Advanced Tool Design ATD-5464 Bubble Flaring Tool Kit (ISO) (Automotive)
[...]. I bought this with intent to flare the brake lines on my car, I only got about half way through when my die was damaged, now it can't make a sealing flare! Wast of money!

Some problems with bubble flaring tool,
This review is from: Advanced Tool Design ATD-5464 Bubble Flaring Tool Kit (ISO) (Automotive)
The problems with this kit are (1) the opening for the 3/16" (4.7mm) line that I was working on was not a tight fit, even with a separate clamp. Fortunately I had another flaring tool with SAE sizes that was tight, and I could use that clamp with the components from this set, and (2) the bubble flares don't always come out even, sometimes they are lop-sided/canted to one side.

I bought the product based on the Amazon write-up and reviews and it performed as promised. I was able to create 4 perfect bubble flares and finish up replacing the rear brake lines on my car. Quality is good, instructions are clear, product is easy to use and case is great for storage.

I bought this to do the brake lines on my car and it worked great. I saw a few other reviews about how these broke. I have been a mechanic for 30 years and have seen many of the adapters break due to not having a good straight cut with no burs. I use a dremel tool with a cut wheel to cut my lines that way there are no burs on the tube therefore the adaptors don't get bound up and end up breaking the inserted part of the adapter. I have since bought a hydralic flaring tool and the Mac guy suggested to get extra 3/16" adaptors because it is common for them to get broken.

Ok, I'm a mechanic, have been for quite a while. I needed to bubble flare some brake lines to finish up my car, bought this, waited for it to come in, broke the first time I used it. First the piece that holds the line wasn't holding tight, then the piece that flares it broke in the line. Absolute junk, save your money, or just buy the proper lines to begin with.

I never flared a brake line before, but I used this on my Volvo brake lines and was impressed how easy it was. The tool does a good job. Follow the directions, which state to clamp down the nut closest to the line, then clamp the far end - this will give you better clamping pressure and hold the line tightly. The clamp itself has small teeth in it to bite into the hose for further holding strength.

Excellent tool, not able to find locally. Works great. Anyone who repairs/restores older autos will find they may need this tool because parts are not available.

Very good value for the money spent. Manufactured well and has the feel of a much higher priced tool.
