Decent Tool, Messy,

I bought this tool to change my manual transmission fluid. It sucked up the new MTF fine, but as soon as you turn it so that the back is not facing up, the MTF would seep out from the back. At least on the 8th Gen. Civic it is impossible to get to the fill hole without the back of this suction gun facing sideways or down, so it got very messy with MTF getting all over the gun and dripping to the floor. It did get the job done, and for the price you probably would not find anything better. On second thought maybe getting an extra long hose would do the trick by letting you keep the back of the gun up, but at that point you might as well just use a funnel and just pour the MTF into the hose.
However, if you need this tool just for sucking liquids out, then it works great for that.

Bought this to change the transmission and transfer case fluids in my Jeep. This job took twice as long because of this tool. The action is stiff and sticky, and it's very hard to compress the plunger in a confined space under a vehicle. Lying on the ground, because of this stickiness, there was no way I could stay under the vehicle to fill the gun. Thus, I had to climb out every time to refill it. Doing this, you'll get fluid spilled around too. Also, fluid was leaking out of the back end of the unit; obviously the seal didn't hold up to the Redline MTF and ATF 4 I used. This tool is cheap, but you'll throw it away when you are finished. Better to spend the money on a better product that you'll keep to use again. This is among the worst tools I've ever bought, that I intended to keep for many uses.

it did what it was supposed to do. it would be nice if they included a reducer to connect a smaller tube. the suction tube is quite large and sometimes hard to manuever inside the object you are draining. worth the price though.

I bought this product to be useful when I do a drain and fill on the various fluids, such as coolant, power steering fluid, and brake fluid in my vehicle.
Using this tool to drain and fill rather than just bleeding the lines comes in handy not only because it is a lot quicker, but it makes sure that air doesn't get into the lines, which could damage your vehicle. Most people only assume that oil and transmission fluid need to be changed, but usually forget about the other important fluids, which can lead to wear of the various parts and overall failure overtime. With this tool, when I hit my 40,000 mile mark, I was able to use it to suck out all of the fluid in my PSF reservoir, and refill the reservoir to the max mark with the appropriate PSF for my vehicle. I then started the car, and rotated the wheel lock to lock slowly, about 5 times each. Then I got out and repeated about 5 more times until I emptied the entire 16 fl oz bottle of psf through the system. The drain and fill essentially cleans the fluid that is already in there...by taking out old fluid, then mixing in new fluid, the ratio of old to new fluid changes, essentially making the fluid cleaner and cleaner with each drain and fill. Now when 60,000 miles comes around it will be time to D&F the coolant. At that time I will only have to suck out all of the coolant in the coolant reservoir and refill it. Overall, this product is a great tool to help with your automotive needs. It is a pretty solid metal body, and it all comes apart for easy cleaning. The only problem I have with it is gravity. When you finish sucking up fluid, the residual fluid that didn't get sucked up into the pump, but only in the tube, will flow back out slowly, so just be careful not to spill any fluid, especially on the power steering belt, because then it would slip. This product is an AMAZING DEAL for the price. These products go for about 30 dollars. I suggest getting one if you are an experienced DIYer. I give it 5 stars for its sturdy solid metal construction, the price, and the fact that it does what it is supposed to do.

If your goal is to sit under the car/jeep/truck and pump the tranny fluid up into the fill hole, forget it. This pump does not push fluid up. Really, I am not kidding. Under the Jeep with the tranny drained and who would have thought that a pump only works when facing down?

This item takes way too long to ship. I ordered a transmission filter too it showed up 3 days before this... I'm currently still waiting. I found one for 10$ at advanced auto and I bought that. This is a complete waste of time.
