This book covers most every technique I'm aware of for fly fishing for steelhead. It goes into great detail for a variety of conditions making the information useful year around. My only wish is that the book is not available in a pocket version.

Well written, insightful book. Equally suited for the beginner as well as the more seasoned steelheader. Lots of great info on casting techniques including greased line and spey. Mostly oriented around west coast fishing but the techniques should be applicable for their transplanted brothers in the Great Lakes. IMHO this and "Steelhead Fly Fishing" by Trey Combs are the two essentials for any steelhead fly fisherman's reference library.

No matter what style of fly, line, rod or water you prefer to steelhead fish there is a chapter or section for you. A lot of information about fly styles, depth of water fished, lines, summer, winter, low water, greased line etc, there is plenty to learn in this book.

My son is an avid fly fisherman but as in other hobbies, there are still things to be learned. I bought him this book and he loves it. He said there are many new things that he did not know and this book covers it all. For those fishermen who are seasoned fly fisherment this book might just be for you. He thought he knew alot of fishing steelies but now he has incorporated things that he learned in this book into his fishing trips. A must read for those who fly fish!
