Good read for both the educator and the student.,

This review is from: Advanced Mathematical Thinking (Mathematics Education Library) (Hardcover)
Very interesting book on the thought processes and psychology of mathematicians and mathematics students, and their relevance to mathematics pedagogy.
It seems as if the book was primarily written with teachers of mathematics in mind, and it will surely be of benefit to many of them. However, I would also strongly recommend the book to students of mathematics, who will benefit from a deeper understanding of the types of mental qualities they should try to develop to be successful mathematicians. It will also give students a better understanding of the *purpose* of all of these abstract definitions -- that is, what are these books/teachers trying to instill in them? Either way, this was a very enlightening and pleasurable read. A++. |
