This is a great book, covering much advanced material in a reasonable amount of pages. Kaplan does this by condensing the introduction to the material, and focusing on the meat of the issue at hand. This may make for a scary introduction, but as a reference book it is great. Kaplan is very good at explaining the theory behind why you need to learn something, and this is much more useful than conventional authors like Stewart who don't tell us why.

If you really get to know everything in this book cover-to-cover, I think you would be well-prepared for a career in any field of engineering. Or, for that matter, it serves as an introduction to upper division math as well.

I can't believe how great this book is. Haha, but it's true. I taught myself linear algebra from this book and from Gilbert Strang's online lecture series at MIT. And I have only had the book for 2 months! Imagine where I will be in another 2 months.

Recommended for self study for advanced students, or as a reference for professionals in the engineering industry. As far as I know, it is out of print, so find a copy in your universary library, or get one through 3rd party sellers here on Amazon.
