Good introduction, but...,

Good first introduction to a wide array of control theory topics. It may also become a good book in library to refer back to for specific techniques. But--
The mathematical notation is often sloppy, e.g., does "dS/dt0" mean what it looks like, or does it mean "dS/dt evaluated at t=t0"? The book is still valuable, but a more rigorous introduction to some of the topics (e.g., Kirk's Optimal Control Theory: An Introduction) is a needed accessory.
