Editorial Reviews

Review

"The companion website is a great addition to the book, where there are further resources, including videos and all the photos used in the book for you to download and practice on. As a digital photographer myself, I found all of Philip Andrews' books extremely clear and helpful and this one is no exception. Again, he has written one of the best books on the subject, in his usual clear and engaging style. The informative step-by-step instructions, full colour screen shots and the attractive presentation throughout only serve to reinforce the reasons to buy it." - Amazon Review

"At last - an Elements guide that moves beyond the basics to focus on getting the most out of Elements' powerful feature-set. Advanced Photoshop Elements 5.0 is a meaty tome that gets to grips with everything the true enthusiast would ever want to know - from complex layer work through to designing text for the web. Written by Adobe alpha tester Philip Andrews, this book is detailed, comprehensive and inspirational, making it the perfect accessory for those who've recently invested in the fifth instalment of the Elements program" - What Digital Camera April 07

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Manual, January 10, 2007
By
Chuck V. (Buckhannon, WV USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Advanced Photoshop Elements 5.0 for Digital Photographers (Paperback)
This book, clearly intended for folks with some Photoshop Elements experience, is totally PACKED with suggestions and how-to information. Instructions are very detailed and (so far, at least) absolutely correct. I moved from Elements 3.0 to Elements 5.0, using this book as my manual, and was up and running in minutes, even trying out some new ideas I hadn't thought of or discovered before. It is clearly NOT a book to help the new software owner learn Photoshop Elements, but for anyone with some experience already in digital photo manipulation, it can't be beat!

Thanks to Philip Andrews for a truly excellent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide for the non-newbie, June 17, 2007
By
Tommy (Naperville, Illinois United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Advanced Photoshop Elements 5.0 for Digital Photographers (Paperback)
As an owner of a number of decent Photoshop and Photoshop Elements books, this one is pretty close to the top of the list. It's very well organized, from the table of contents through the presentation of the specific topic of interest. Well illustrated also.

What I also found valuable is that each topic/task has which version of Photoshop Elements it works with. So, even if you're not a Photoshop 5 user, or will be upgrading soon, this would be a good investment.

Two other highlights: 1) His treatment of RAW processing...very sane and easy to follow, and 2) presentation of the workflow for digital photography.

Wait...one more! The guide on printing is quite good too. If you're like me, you may be very happy with the picture, less than happy with the inkjet print. Good ideas on how to help here.

Very impressed with this book. Highly recommend!
